SCADA Networking System Engineer

Austin,TX or Roscoe, TX, United States

Functional area: Renewables 

 

The SCADA networking engineer is responsible for the day to day ordering, configuration, deployment and maintenance of internal RWE network assets in the Production IT environment. This positions works in close union with the operations department to help achieve business goals, provide technical expertise, assist sites with SCADA questions and issues, recommend security solutions and enhancements, assist with compliance measures, maintain and implement procedures to improve compliance, monitor for and mitigate malicious threats and provide tier 2/3 network support. This position will also be responsible for Project Management and implementation with multiple departments, network equipment management, licensing and contracts, providing training on software and equipment, providing cost/value/risk analysis on software and equipment, and providing mentorship to less experienced team members. Occasional travel may be required. the job duties of this role are similar to those of a Network Engineer, IT Management and Systems Administration and experience with Windows, Linux and VMware environments is highly desirable.

 

Essential Functions (not all inclusive): 

 

• Perform the deployment, integration and configuration of security solutions and of enhancements to existing information/operational technology in accordance with standard best practice procedures and enterprise security policy
• Monitor geographical remote networks and systems ensuring high availability of assets
• Provide and manage systems for secure remote access into PIT environment
• Participate in the design, execution and risk mitigation regarding vulnerability assessments, and security/regulatory audits
• Participate in the creation of enterprise security documentation (policies, programs, standards, baselines, guidelines, procedures and metric/key performance reporting)
• Working with baselines and testing on configuration for Change Management process
• Monthly Security Event monitoring of configurations
• Maintain, configure, update and patch networking devices 
• Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

At least 2-3 years work experience in the following or with comparable schooling and certification:

• Networking and Network Security encompassing critical network infrastructure.  
• Design and Deploy Virtual and Physical computers/servers. 
• Certification or advanced expertise in Cisco, Palo-Alto and other networking technologies
• Experience with configuring switches, firewalls, routers, VPN, SAN’s, NAS’s and various networking devices. 
• Knowledge and understanding of various compliance processes. 
• Comfortable knowledge of products such as VMware, Microsoft OS, and Veeam
