Offshore Wind Turbine Technician - Cumbria

The Role:


  • Carryout maintenance and servicing of wind turbines and balance of plant, including servicing, reactive and proactive maintenance, inspections, modifications, retrofits and main component exchanges. The successful applicant is expected to become a Authorised Technician under Wind Turbine Safety rules to fulfil this part of the role and lead teams under their supervision.
  • Carry out maintenance on the Wind Turbine High Voltage system up to and including 33,000V. The successful applicant is expected to become a Senior Authorised Person under Electrical and Mechanical Safety rules to fulfil this part of the role and lead teams under their supervision.
  • Work in a small team with minimal supervision.
  • Work proactively and flexibly to minimise failures and maximise the Energy Yield.
  • Utilise SCADA systems and other computer based systems to interrogate turbines, to reset faults, to instigate maintenance activities and build up a fault/failure histories.
  • Be prepared to have a flexible approach to working hours around the weather and workload, to be on call outside normal working hours and flexible to travel to other sites within the fleet.
  • Maintain maintenance records, electronic and paper, of all work performed on plant.
  • Proactively assist in all areas of site operations, working on projects, spares and other non-routine works.
  • Support Site Improvement Projects Processes


Role Requirements:


  • A full apprenticeship in a mechanical or electrical discipline.
  • HNC in electrical or mechanical discipline.
  • Experienced in High Voltage Equipment up to 33kV
  • Grade 4 (C on old grading system) or above in five subject at GCSE including English and Mathematics
  • Strong experience of maintaining electrical, mechanical or rotating assets.
  • Qualified in First Aid at Work, Working at Heights / Tower Rescue, offshore survival & offshore medical
  • A competent slinger and banksman
  • Familiarity with Turbine Supervisory Control and Data Systems (SCADA).
  • A sound understanding of trouble-shooting, maintenance and fundamental mechanical/electrical principles.
  • The fitness and stamina to work at height in an offshore environment.
  • A full UK driving licence.



The person recruited will be expected to join the current shift working pattern which is seven days working and seven days off. 10.5 hours per day and includes every other weekend.

The successful applicant must live or be prepared to move to within 30 minute’s drive from site.
