The role is responsible for leading and strategically shaping RWE’s Onshore Wind, PV and BESS Development activities in Poland, ensuring the delivery of a robust, competitive and value-driven pipeline from origination through to Financial Investment Decision (FID) or successful value-accretive divestment.
The position holds full accountability for the performance, quality and strategic direction of the Polish pipeline, balancing long-term growth ambitions with disciplined portfolio management, risk mitigation and continuous Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) optimisation.
As a senior regional leadership role within OPEA Development Europe, the position requires strong leadership in an organisation of approximately 60 employees across origination and development, fostering a high-performance culture, strengthening organisational capability and leading through leaders to ensure sustainable business success. You will act as a key representative of Development within the Polish organisation and externally across the market, driving alignment across cross-functional stakeholders including Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Investments & Transactions and wider corporate functions to support strategic portfolio delivery and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure delivery of a high-quality and economically competitive Onshore, PV and BESS pipeline through disciplined portfolio management and continuous LCOE optimisation.
- Drive disciplined pipeline growth and prioritisation through greenfield development, acquisitions, partnerships and divestment opportunities, maximising value creation and delivery certainty.
- Translate strategic priorities into clear business outcomes with a strong commercial and value-driven mindset.
- Foster a high-performance and accountable organisation across Poland, focused on collaboration, leadership development and delivery excellence.
- Build a strong and scalable organisation through effective leadership, talent development and empowerment of teams and managers.
- Represent the Project Development function within the Polish Board structure and ensure effective governance and HSE standards.
- Build and maintain strong external relationships across the Polish renewables market, representing RWE with key stakeholders, partners and industry forums while monitoring market, regulatory and competitive
- developments to support strategic portfolio positioning.
Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience within the renewable energy sector, with strong exposure to Onshore Wind, PV and ideally BESS.
- Proven track record leading large-scale pipelines from origination through to FID and/or successful divestment.
- Strong commercial and strategic mindset with experience in portfolio management, investment decision-making and value optimisation.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing large, multidisciplinary teams within complex matrix organisations.
- Experience working across cross-functional stakeholder groups including Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Finance, Legal and Transactions.
- Strong understanding of the Polish renewables market, regulatory environment and stakeholder landscape.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in dynamic business environments with strong decision-making and prioritisation capabilities.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Fluent in Polish and English.
