Your future plans

The Commercial Asset and Portfolio Analysis department provides detailed commercial insights, market analysis and analytical support to RWEs business for all renewable, conventional and storage technologies across the globe. Our objective is to support the acceleration to Net Zero by steering RWEs investments towards markets, technologies and monetization concepts with highest commercial value. Based on that, the team ensures full optimization and maximization of the revenue streams of our current and future assets, contributing to the long term success of RWE. 
The main focus of this position is on renewable technologies in the Polish electricity market and includes commercial project valuations, strategic/regulatory analyses and auction support for Offshore & Onshore wind, PV and battery storages. 
The role requires a high affinity for numerical work as well as handling large amounts of data and can include programming tasks. You will be part of a highly dynamic, international and geographically diverse team which requires occasional international travel, working remotely and demonstrating a pro-active and autonomous approach to work. The Commercial Analysis team explicitly promotes intra- and inter-departmental cooperation to guarantee our employees access to the full scope of activities a global player like RWE offers (e.g. job shadowing / job rotation in other regions / continents and departments).
 

  • Provide full commercial valuations and support for various renewable investment decisions   (investment approval, bid price setting, M&A projects, etc.), including stakeholder management
  • Lead the collection, preparation and analysis of all relevant commercial inputs for renewable energy business models in Poland with special focus on long-term power & certificate prices. 
  • Support the structured origination team in commercial offtake discussions and recommend most appropriate route to market strategies.
  • Proactively formulate the optimal development and monetization strategies for offshore wind from a commercial perspective
  • Support bidding strategies in various auctions as part of the core bid team and lead analysis of commercial activities in cooperation with the local team.
  • Supporting Strategy and Regulatory Affairs team to reflect current and future market and regulatory scenarios for long-term strategic planning.
  • Supporting Europe wide market analyses and commercial evaluation of new technology solutions such as Hydrogen and Battery Storage. Work includes overseeing internal and external long-term power price/ certificate forecasts for the Polish market.
  • The Senior Commercial Analyst might take over the responsibility for commercial workstreams in cross-department projects and mentor and support less experienced Commercial Market Analysts
  • Ad-hoc market analysis reports e.g. in case of significant market events.
     

Your powerful skills 

  • Degree in an analytical / numerical subject, preferably Economics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics or Mathematics and appropriate professional working experience including quantitative analysis.
  • 3+ years’ experience in the energy sector, including experience with commercialization of renewables and/or as power market analyst or similar
  • Good Programming skills and/or strong Excel knowledge i.e. should be able to use functionalities at an expert level and/or implement numerical models or data processing routines e.g. python.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and in managing a good relationship with business partners and other external stakeholders as well as the ability to structure and present complex information adequately to a (senior) management-level audience (both written and verbal).
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: highly proactive, identifying value opportunities and proposing solutions to them under own initiative.
  • Enthusiastic about learning and pushing technical limits and finding new solutions / out of the box thinking.
  • You are fluent in Polish and English

 

Advantageous, but not a must

  • Proven track record in project management 
  • Skills in VBA, R, Python, database handling or Tableau are a further advantage
  • Other European languages, especially German
