The Senior Manager, Land Acquisition - East Region at RWE Clean Energy is responsible for managing land acquisition and land asset management activities for renewable energy projects working directly with the Director of Land Acquisition. He or she will develop and implement strategic land acquisition plans, negotiate land agreements, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and permits across ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, and the Carolinas.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive land strategy of utility-scale Solar, Wind and Energy Storage projects, from origination to start of construction
  • Assist development to identify suitable land parcels through market analysis and site assessment
  • Lead negotiations for land acquisition, lease agreements, and easements, ensuring favourable terms and conditions
  • Collaborate with the development team and public relations to implement a community engagement plan to address the specific needs and values of host project stakeholders
  • Provide support during the construction phase to ensure successful COD
  • Educate more junior Development Managers / Associates that are in the lead of individual wind projects
  • Understand the key drivers for project’s financial attractiveness and identify best locations in collaboration with RWE’s commercial and technical teams
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment with the land team to educate developers and land agents on best practices for building long lasting relationships with landowners and host communities Support the due diligence of site control in project acquisitions, in collaboration with RWE’s Partnering team
  • Prepare management presentation and drive internal approval processes
  • Develop and manage project budgets, objectives, schedules, and deliverables for assigned land acquisition campaign
  • Actively participate in the strategy for the region and internal improvement initiatives
  • Assist in implantation of  development driven toolkit for junior developers and land agents to gain solid data collection and situational awareness

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business/economics, environmental science, or relevant experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience applicable to renewable energy infrastructure, including experience in developing energy infrastructure projects in the US
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, attention to detail and work ethic
  • Ability to guide, mentor and develop more junior colleagues
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in  New York is $160,000 - $188,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
