RWE Renewables is looking to recruit an Offshore Ecology Lead for the Netherlands Offshore Wind Development Team. 

 

The role is primarily based in Utrecht, however, travel across Netherlands and within some of the Central Europe countries will be required as part of the role on a regular basis and working from outside the office is possible. You will be a core part of the Development team helping to support our offshore wind projects through the development stages.

 

You will be expected to take a dynamic and proactive role in supporting the Development Team in strategic environmental including ecological matters and consultations. You will work closely with the projects leads, projects development managers, bid managers, package managers and the other consent & environmental  managers within the group. The scope of work also encompasses support to adjacent markets.

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

  • Act as ecology lead for upcoming Dutch and Belgium offshore wind tenders;
  • Define, manage and deliver the scope of environmental including ecological requirements in order to fulfil and submit winning bids on auctions criteria for our future offshore wind projects;
  • Being responsible for fulfilling environmental including ecological conditions throughout the project development phases, including preparation and reviewing of EIAs, applications and bid documents;
  • Provide environmental and ecological support and advice throughout the organisation;
  • Facilitate implementation of innovative environmental and ecological solutions in close collaboration with our engineering departments and external partners;
  • Liaise on a continual basis with authorities, partners, and other stakeholders related to environment including ecology.

Knowledge and Skills

 

  • Master's degree, preferably in a relevant environmental and/or ecological discipline
  • Demonstrable competence in environment and ecology, consenting, licensing or related fields, with specific experience working on offshore wind projects
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent project management and development management skills and experience
  • Ability to negotiate with a range of potential partners, including development partners;
  • Ability to maintain sight of the ‘big picture’ and overarching objectives;
  • Experience in management of programme and budgets and reporting activities to senior executive and Board level;
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) in Dutch and English and ability to communicate complex technical issues to internal and external stakeholders including relevant authorities and contractors;
  • Good people management skills.
