RWE Offshore Wind is recruiting an Offshore Consent Manager for its Benelux Offshore Development Department. 

 

RWE has exciting projects in her portfolio. We have won the offshore wind tender “Hollandse Kust West VII” that also includes various innovative energy system integration solutions, making it a blueprint windfarm for the future.  RWE aims to grow its presence in the Dutch and Belgian North Sea area, where new exiting projects will start in the coming years. This includes innovative solutions with respect to ecology, circularity and system integration. 

 

The consent manager will have a key role within the organisation for permitting and compliance. It is your role to guide our bid promises to the execution phase, support our specialist teams in understanding and implementing our permit and legal obligations. Furthermore you will focus on obtaining permits during the development phase, prior to construction of our windfarms and for innovations.

 

You have a good technical understanding of energy matters, permitting procedures, and the legal framework. You will work closely with a variety of experts including legal, HSE, engineering, ecology and also with  consultants, authorities and external partners. 

 

Based in Utrecht, the consent manager works locally in a young and motivated team and cooperates with many international colleagues. Working in RWE offshore wind projects is a unique opportunity to make a significant contribution to the energy transition, and notably to nature inclusive windfarms. 

 

This is an exciting role within RWE Offshore Wind and the qualified applicant will be a key member of a team with impressive growth targets.
The role will require attendance at external meetings and occasional (international) travelling will be needed.
 
Key Accountabilities

 

As an Offshore Consent Manager you will be:

  • Working closely with the authorities involved in the permitting and other legislative processes;
  • Ensuring compliance with permits, standards and procedures in the area of responsibility;
  • Working with joint venture partners, advising on key consenting issues;
  • Conducting negotiations on consenting on behalf of the business with partners, authorities and other stakeholders on the project;
  • Monitoring and anticipating consenting issues and propose mitigation strategies;
  • Ensuring RWE best practices and processes are applied.

 

 

Knowledge & Skills

 

 

  • High self-performance management and delivery focus;
  • Persuasion skills, both in writing and orally;
  • Proactive and taking responsibility for matters, signaling threats and opportunities;
  • A solid understanding of complex consenting and legal requirements;
  • Creativity to solve consenting issues;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Dutch and English)
  • Familiar with MS office and GIS tooling.

 

Qualifications and experience

 

  • A master’s degree in a relevant area like spatial planning, renewable energy, engineering or an equivalent qualification;
  • Several years of permitting experience;
  • Proven experience in consenting procedures including management advisory;
  • Knowledge of offshore environmental, spatial planning and mining legislation;
  • Familiar with methods of reporting, project planning, organisation and project management;
  • Preferably experience in the offshore renewable energy industry.
  • Fluency in the Dutch language is a prerequisite.
