Tokyo, Tokyo, JP, 100-0005 Swindon, Wiltshire, GB, SN5 6PB
RWE Offshore Wind GmbH
To start as soon as possible, full time, fixed term
Every offshore wind project starts with a simple question: What is the best way to install it?
For our offshore wind project in Japan, we are looking for a Senior Logistics Manager who will help answer that question by coordinating the development of project-specific Transport & Installation (T&I) concepts and execution strategies.
A key focus of the role is bringing all T&I functions together to ensure the project becomes construction ready. You will develop and maintain a robust T&I concept, identify risks and dependencies, coordinate critical interfaces across project packages and ensure responsibilities are clearly defined and understood.
During execution, you will act as the focal point for the project-wide T&I concept, supporting the project in maintaining, challenging and optimising the agreed strategy where beneficial.
Ultimately, your role is to ensure that risks are understood, interfaces are managed effectively, package scopes fit together and the offshore wind farm can be delivered safely, efficiently and on schedule.
About the role
-
Develop and coordinate project-specific Transport & Installation (T&I) concepts, execution strategies, and delivery programmes, while maintaining and optimising integrated construction schedules.
-
Coordinate T&I resources, specialists, and package teams throughout project development and execution.
-
Identify and manage project risks, dependencies, constraints, opportunities, and mitigation measures to support successful delivery.
-
Manage critical interfaces between packages, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring effective coordination and communication.
-
Ensure clear responsibilities, eliminate scope gaps between project packages, and support Package Managers in defining execution strategies, interface requirements, and contract deliverables.
-
Support tender evaluations and contract negotiations where required.
-
Lead planning, interface, and coordination meetings, providing reporting and recommendations to the Senior Project Manager, and support project readiness reviews and the transition into construction.
-
Monitor execution against the agreed T&I concept, drive optimisation opportunities, and promote lessons learned and continuous improvement across projects.
Job requirements and experience
-
Proven experience developing and coordinating complex project strategies, execution concepts, delivery plans, and construction programmes, including schedule optimisation.
-
Strong ability to manage interfaces across multiple contractors, project packages, and stakeholders in complex project environments.
-
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills, with experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams or project workstreams.
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with experience identifying project risks and developing mitigation plans and execution strategies.
-
Practical experience in offshore installation activities, such as Foundations, Wind Turbines, Cables, Offshore Substations, or similar large-scale construction scopes.
-
Sound understanding of HSE requirements and safe execution principles within offshore construction and infrastructure projects.
-
Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Logistics, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience), with fluent written and spoken English.
-
Experience in offshore wind, marine construction, or major infrastructure projects, preferably in Japan, including knowledge of Japanese contractors, suppliers, regulations, business practices, procurement, tendering, contract management, planning tools, and data-driven project controls; Japanese language skills and a willingness to be based in or relocate to Japan are advantageous.
