Your role:

 

In order to support all the offshore development project portfolio, and being able to prepare competitive bids in the future tenders, a new onshore electrical package manager is needed. The role of the Package Manager will be to act as global interface between our business partners, engineering, construction and the Project Team, having the overall responsibility for the electrical package, and all the related technical and HSSE issues for RWE Renewable Offshore projects with the primary focus in Japan. 

 

Your future plans:

 

  • Responsible for planning, time schedule and budget control of the electrical balance of plant set-up of offshore wind projects.
  • Responsible for the build-up of the electrical balance of plant supply chain including preparation and execution of requests for quotation to obtain budgetary information.
  • Coordination of multi-disciplinary company resources and inputs to the Project from within Engineering, Development, Construction, HSE, Procurement and Controlling functions.
  • Act as interface between our business partners, our internal engineers and the Project Team and transfer lessons learned from other offshore projects into the Project team.
  • Responsible for the assessment of electrical system design, grid code compliance, manufacturing control, installation concept and commissioning.
  • Responsible to lead discussions with (Japanese) grid operator and negotiate grid connection agreements.
  • Responsible to implement all possible cost reduction initiatives, in order to prepare the most cost efficient CAPEX and OPEX for the electrical package considered for bid preparation and FID.
  • Responsible for the overall package design, tender preparation, evaluation and contract negotiation. In addition you shall provide inputs into the rest of project packages during design phase and to define the working interfaces with them
  • Contribute to the identification and management of package risks, issues and impacts of the package in the project.
  • Interface with consent and land team and ensure that the construction and operational envelope for electrical onshore equipment is secured.

 

Your profile:

 

Essential:

 

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related.
  • Experience on large, complex capital project through development and-or construction phase.
  • Experience of HV and EHV transmission systems (66kV, 154kV, 275kV and above).
  • Knowledge of Japanese grid infrastructure and its grid code.
  • Significant influencing and negotiation skills with supplier and grid operators.
  • High project management skills.
  • Good organisational and prioritising skills.
  • Advanced IT and presentation skills.
  • Team player, self-starting and highly motivated.
  • Business proficient in Japanese.
  • A flexible approach to work and willingness to travel frequently within Japan and abroad.

 

Desirable:

 

  • English
  • Specific renewable energy/offshore wind industry experience.
  • Experience in major cable manufacturing, major electrical equipment manufacturing or electrical construction.

 

Development areas:

 

  • Knowledge of market for submarine and land cables, off- and onshore HV equipment.
  • Develop knowledge of offshore installation approaches and cable burial techniques.
  • Identification of key risks to the delivery and first energisation of the electrical system and implementation of construction, commissioning and post-energisation measures to mitigate these risks.
  • Develop working relationships with internal departments (Engineering, Offshore COOs, HSE, Procurement and Controlling), suppliers and key stakeholders who are crucial to the success of the project and understanding of their business and drivers.
