RWE Offshore is seeking an Offshore General Site Manager to join its Installation Logistics team. The role involves supporting global offshore wind projects during late development and construction phases, working with a diverse team to develop, optimize, and manage innovative and sustainable offshore construction solutions. The position contributes to delivering a net-zero future through safe and efficient execution of offshore wind projects.
About the Role
As our next General Site Manager (GSM) you will be accountable for leading the Offshore Site Management team in support of the projects installation and commissioning activities carried out through the tier 1 contractors. The GSM is further responsible for supporting the Senior Project Manager, the Engineering Manager, the Senior Consents Manager and the Installation Package Managers ensuring and aligned, coherent and safe project execution [incl. as required fulfilling specific HSE responsibilities] of the construction phase.
- Planning, managing and coordinating the offshore site management works in line with company site management plan, site management philosophy, company values, internal compliance policies and regulations, external regulations, the Project Management Framework (PMF), and Delegation of Authority (DOA), while prioritizing the interests of the end client (Operations).
- Ensuring all works adhere to the company’s HSE policies, 8 Life-Saving Rules, ‘We Care’ essential behavior principles, and region specific legislation and regulations.
- HSE emergency response planning and management including medical needs and clinical governance, and systematic HSE monitoring.
- Collaborating closely with the Procurement department to manage the procurement process, from ITT development to contract signing, ensuring the best interests of the project and RWE Offshore are upheld.
- Managing a matrixed team of experts who provide specialist input for delivering the Offshore Site Management works.
- Supporting the engineering process within the package, ensuring buildability, operational considerations, interfaces, and safety by design are fully addressed. Creating a collaborative, transparent, and supportive work culture, focusing on knowledge sharing and lessons learned, both within the project and across RWE Offshore.
- Facilitate an environment to enable clear communication lines with internal and external parties. Managing resources and budget within the Offshore Site Management team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, while identifying, mitigating, and addressing risks and opportunities as needed.
Job requirements and experience
- Proficient in both spoken/written English and Japanese language.
- Experience working with Japanese Suppliers, Authorities and other Stakeholders.
- Hold a degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering, Marine Logistics, Renewable Energy or another closely related engineering or science area.
- Have significant demonstratable experience in leading the efficient and safe execution of offshore wind farm projects. Experience of the contracts used in offshore construction and vessel chartering.
- Have comprehensive and demonstratable knowledge in HSE aspects of offshore construction and site management, including working in accordance with the local legislation and regulation.
- A team leader and collaborator comfortable working closely with your colleagues as part of an exciting and motivated multinational global team. Motivated, engaged, keen problem solver with skilled communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willing, and able, to travel regularly within Japan and globally on an ad hoc basis as required to support our projects, and to work offshore and at heights.
