The Engineering Management APAC Team within RWE Offshore Wind is looking for an Interface Project Engineer. The Engineer will be responsible for day to day management of the interface process, take responsibility for smaller workstreams within engineering itself and closely liaising with all packages (Foundation, Electrical, Wind Turbine Generator); suppliers and other third parties to ensure the project is delivered in a timely and efficient manner. This will involve ensuring technical issues are identified, understood and addressed with a focus on the optimization of Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE).
 
About the role

 

  • Develop, apply and maintain interface management tools and monitoring processes, including those for scope management and for interface documentation transfer
  • Ensure the compatibility of technical specifications and scopes throughout the design phase; in supply contracts and during manufacturing
  • Coordination of regular interface meetings with, and between, project work packages and suppliers to identify technical interface issues and facilitate their resolution to minimize knock-on effects
  • Management of relevant external engineering consultancy contracts
  • Planning and implementation of works packages required for design development (such as mock-ups, test pieces and trials) as well as support installation and commissioning planning
  • Support the defining of the overall technical concept of coordinating engineering work across technical disciplines
  • Coordinate engineering work between the packages in close collaboration with the Project Managers and Discipline Engineers, as well as with the Certification Project Engineer, with due regard to project schedule
  • Oversee any emerging engineering issues within their area to ensure these are dealt with expediently to facilitate project execution with minimal disruption

 

Job requirements and experience

 

  • Fully completed university degree in the domain of Engineering or natural science, as well as at least 3+ year relevant professional experience, preferably within the Offshore Wind energy in Japan
  • Experience in large scale infrastructure projects where multiple interfaces between work packages and technical disciplines exist 
  • Advanced analytical capabilities and an ability to understand the complex aspects of topics from a broad spectrum of technical disciplines
  • Proven project management, communication and stakeholder management skills, able to prioritize and work independently
  • Commercially aware with experience of contract negotiation and management 
  • Preferably able to go offshore (e.g. GWO / HUET) 
  • Willingness to travel within Japan and the APAC region
  • Business fluent in both Japanese and English, further languages are a value-added skill
