Your role

As Cable Package Manager you will develop and provide leadership to a multidisciplinary cables team and will have accountability for the delivery of the cables contracts, primarily on Murakami-Tanai project, which will include the management of a wide range of areas including:

  • Health, safety, environment and quality

  • Design

  • Programme

  • Commercial, claims and risks

  • Project reporting and development of processes and procedures

 

You will be responsible for the delivery of the offshore wind farm cables design, supply, installation and commissioning including all burial and protection requirements of the submarine array cables. You will need a hands on approach to management and be expected to work closely with other package teams within the project and in the line organisation.

 

Your key tasks and responsibilities:

As a Cable Package Manager your primary responsibilities will be;

  • HSSE performance through design and implementation to eliminate or reduce risks during construction, operation and maintenance

  • Define and develop interface with the rest of project packages

  • Undertake tender document preparation, bid reviews and evaluations, contract negotiation and complete contract execution, including claim management. up to hand over to the operation team

  • Develop the day to day interaction with the Contractor to ensure adherence with the HSSE, quality, scope, budget, technical requirements and time schedule

  • Manage technical and commercial risks, issues and impacts of changes to the project

  • Report to the Senior Project Manager on progress, issues and changes

  • Coordinate a multidisciplinary team to deliver the works under your responsibilities

 

Essential skill requirements:

  • Engineering background with significant knowledge in submarine cable design and installation operations

  • Significant and in-depth experience in Project Management of offshore submarine cables

  • High level of competency in contract management, claims management, negotiation techniques and dispute resolution methodologies

  • Highly motivated individual with a positive attitude ensuring adequate interfaces, controls and communication are established and maintained in all aspects of project management

  • Ability to identify a problem or conflict, identify potential solutions and evaluate the solutions leading to a recommendation for the optimum solution

  • Good knowledge of current Japanese health, safety and environmental legislation

  • Good English communication skills both written and verbal

  • Flexible to travel around Japan and overseas

 

Desirable skills:

  • Fluency in Japanese

  • Demonstrable experience of working effectively in an international business
