RWE Renewables develops and constructs renewable energy projects around the world, and owns and operates offshore wind farm projects throughout Europe representing a total of 2.4 GW.

Murakami Tainai Wind Farm is a 700MW project being developed by RWE Renewables in Japan and RWE is seeking to appoint a Senior Cable Engineer for the offshore cable packages.

About the role

As Senior Cable Engineer you will be part of an Engineering team providing expertise in offshore wind projects in the APAC region, Murakami Tainai Japan project in particular, with a focus on inter-array and export cables, with particular responsibility for:

• Technical expertise for HV and MV cable systems
• RCAs in case of component failures
• Preparation and review of technical documentation and involvement in the related tender, contract and procurement process for our projects
• Technical management of related electrical works on project construction sites
• Technical lead in supplier and product prequalification process
• Technical lead in factory audits
• Application and further development of relevant internal standards, regulations, norms and best practice
• Project reporting and development of processes and procedures

You will need a hands on approach to Engineering and be expected to work closely with other package teams within the projects and in the line organisation, and in particular have involvement with and provide support for the development of the wider electrical systems including the offshore & onshore substations, foundations and SCADA systems.

Job requirements and experience

• University degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
• Several years of relevant work experience as a component specialist for cables (onshore or offshore)
• High-end expertise regarding rating, design and testing – the optimum would be work experience gained within a manufacturer or developer
• Relevant experience regarding related project work, especially in the fields of technical specification writing and negotiations
• Business level Japanese and English language skills
