Join RWE’s offshore operations team as a Balance of Plant (BoP) Technician and help ensure the safe and reliable operation of Thor Offshore Wind Farm, Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm. Working in small teams alongside external service providers, you will represent RWE offshore and contribute to the inspection, maintenance and structural integrity of critical balance-of-plant assets. Once fully operational in 2027, Thor will have a capacity of more than 1 GW and generate green electricity for more than one million Danish households.


About the role

  • Perform visual and technical inspections of turbine foundations, transition pieces, boat landings, internal and external ladders, and secondary steel structures.
  • Identify and report corrosion, weld fatigue, structural damage and other technical faults.
  • Monitor structural integrity, including checks of cathodic corrosion protection systems.
  • Oversee scour protection systems around offshore foundations and coordinate with remotely operated vehicle teams to assess seabed erosion.
  • Inspect and maintain foundation davit cranes and support wind turbine generator activities when required.
  • Document completed work in Fluix and create fault notifications in SAP.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and method statements for repair and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate the work of external service providers and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.

Job requirements and experience

  • Completed vocational training as a mechanical, electrical or wind turbine technician, or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • At least two years of maintenance experience within offshore wind, maritime operations or utilities.
  • Strong HSEQ awareness and knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and industry requirements.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating service assignments.
  • Good IT skills, including experience with tools such as Microsoft Office, Fluix or SAP.
  • Good spoken and written English; Danish language skills are an advantage.
  • Ability to work offshore and obtain a valid GWO certificate.
  • A high level of physical fitness, with the ability to work in demanding conditions and adverse weather at sea, combined with a proactive, collaborative and solution-focused approach.

Thor will be located approximately 22 kilometres off the coast of Thorsminde on the west coast of Jutland. With a planned capacity of more than 1 GW and 72 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-236 DD offshore wind turbines, it is being developed as Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm to date. Once fully operational in 2027, Thor is expected to generate green electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of more than one million Danish households.
