Senior Engineer

RWE Clean Energy is looking for a strong candidate to join our exciting Distributed Clean Energy team as a Senior Engineer!  The Senior Engineer will be responsible for the complete engineering development and design of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection construction documents associated with new buildings and renovations for consulting design projects, design-build projects, and performance contract projects. 

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the design of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems for new and renovated building construction on consulting that will be constructed by the Owner’s contractors (traditional engineering consulting services)
• Ability to plan and manage the development and production of permit and contract documents for the construction of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Oversee engineering calculations for equipment and systems sizing for energy-efficient design
• Conduct studies and analyses of mechanical and plumbing systems documenting the system conditions, presenting cost-effective design solutions, and generating reports with recommendations
• Maintain an understanding of current technical standards for commercial, industrial, and healthcare facilities for energy-efficient design. Research and stay abreast of applicable technology and code updates
• Experience in the overall integration of design engineering, construction, start-up/turnover, and subsequent operation and maintenance of mechanical systems Perform job site visits to verify and document existing construction conditions and to observe and document the contractor’s work
• Generate proposals for engineering and design-build projects based on Owner needs. Detail engineering efforts in tasks and hours.  Develop detailed cost budgets for build projects

Qualifications: 

• Undergraduate engineering degree from an accredited college or university required
• Minimum 10 years in mechanical systems design including HVAC, chilled water systems, hot water systems, and steam systems with a minimum of 5 years in healthcare construction.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in plumbing systems and fire protection systems preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design-build projects is preferred
• Experience in energy analysis to identify, screen, and develop retrofit/energy conservation measures for PC and design-build projects is preferred.
