Cables Package Manager (TW) RWE Renewables Offshore Taiwan

As Cables Package Manager you will manage and provide leadership to a multi-disciplinary electrical package team and will have accountability for the delivery of the contracts which will include the management of a wide range of areas including: 

  • Health and Safety
  • Quality
  • Programme 
  • Commercial, claims and risk 
  • Design 
  • Project reporting and development of processes and procedures

You will be responsible for the delivery of the wind farm offshore cables design, supply, installation and commissioning including all installation, burial and protection requirements of the submarine cables. You will need a hands on approach to management and be expected to work closely with other package teams within the project and in the line organisation.

 

Your key tasks and responsibilities

 

As a Cables Package Manager your primary responsibilities will be:

  • HSE performance through design and implementation to eliminate or reduce risks during construction, operation and maintenance
  • Responsible for planning, time schedule and budget control of the offshore cables scopes of work
  • Responsible for building up local supply chain engagement plan for the cables works, for organising and executing of requests for quotation to obtain budgetary information
  • Contribute to the identification and management of technical and commercial risks, issues and impacts of the project
  • Coordination of multi-disciplinary company resources and inputs to the project from within central engineering, project management, HSE, procurement and controlling functions
  • Manage the multidisciplinary engineering team that executes the package
  • Transfer lessons learned from other offshore projects into the project team
  • Acts as a role model and drive ‘Right First Time’ behaviours within the project team to promote comprehensive planning, risk identification, mitigation and taking action to recover forecast departures from plan
  • Responsible for the assessment of offshore cables system design, layout, cable fabrication, onshore/offshore transitions, offshore cable decks, cable pull-in operations, seabed assessment and preparation, cable laying and protection, and termination and HV testing procedures
  • Responsible to implement all possible cost reduction initiatives, in order to prepare the most cost efficient CAPEX and OPEX for the cables package considered for bid preparation and FID
  • Responsible for the cables package design, tender preparation, evaluation and contract negotiation; in addition you shall provide inputs into the rest of project packages during design phase and to define the working interfaces with them
  • Contribution to the identification and management of package risks, issues and impacts of the package in the project
  • Ensure Contractors’ cooperation to execute the HSE Project Plan and be able to quickly react on observed non-conformities, using the relevant system and regulations, and also to involve the relevant people within the entire organisation to properly solve these
  • Co-ordinate and manage interfaces with other major construction packages, such as electrical systems, in co-operation with other package managers
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reporting
  • Check and approve the documentation of the cables package in the document management system
  • Manage handover of the cables package to the operations team: training and familiarisation, workshops to extensively cover scope, as-built documentation, spare parts and consumables, snags and hazards, and risks transfer

 

Essential skill requirements:

  • Experience on large, complex capital projects through development and construction phase
  • Experience of HV and EHV cables systems, associated civil and offshore works in Taiwan
  • Strong level of competency in contract management, claims management, negotiation techniques and dispute resolution methodologies
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills with suppliers
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong organisational and prioritising skills
  • Excellent IT and presentation skills
  • Strong team player, self-starting and highly motivated
  • Business proficient in English
  • A flexible approach to work and willingness to travel frequently within Taiwan and abroad

 

Desirable skills:

  • Degree in a related discipline
  • Renewable energy/offshore wind farm experience
  • Demonstrable experience of working effectively in an international business
  • Knowledge of related Taiwanese codes and standards, and localisation rules
  • Fluent in Mandarin
