About the role
  • Gain practical insight into electrical system design for offshore wind projects.
  • Develop an understanding of the interfaces between transmission systems, onshore and offshore substations and wind turbine generators.
  • Build awareness of the critical importance of safety throughout project design and operation.
  • Work across the project lifecycle from development through construction to operation, supporting a robust through-life electrical system design.
  • Contribute to the main electrical system design, including onshore and offshore HVAC and HVDC systems.
  • Create electrical system simulation models and analyse system behaviour and grid code compliance.
  • Visit project sites to gain first-hand insight into their development and delivery.
  • Take ownership of a defined project with a scope agreed by the team.
 
Job requirements and experience
  • Ongoing studies in Electrical Engineering.
  • Eligibility to complete a year in industry placement as part of the degree programme.
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate workloads independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Confidence working in a diverse team environment and engaging with a range of stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel to other sites when required, with travel expenses covered.

  • A minimum of five years’ residence in the UK due to the potential requirement for National Security Vetting.

  • Knowledge or experience of electrical power engineering, electrical systems and design, plant or electrical distribution.

This position is aimed at those currently studying who are eligible for a Year in Industry Placement. For those who will be graduating Summer 2027 we encourage you to apply for our graduate programme which will be advertised in January 2027.
 
An offer of employment in this role may require holding active or ability to pass National Security vetting to SC level. Failure to obtain and or maintain National Security Vetting to SC may result in the removal of job offers and or existing employment.
