The Team Lead Country HR Continental UK & Ireland is responsible for leading the local HR team across the UK and Ireland, ensuring legal compliance, smooth delivery of end-to-end HR services, and a positive employee experience on-site. The role acts as the operational backbone of HR in both countries, managing the interface with the HR Shared Service Center (SSC) and global HR functions.

Reporting to the Head of Country HR, the Team Lead ensures consistent execution of people processes, alignment with global HR frameworks, and effective collaboration with business leaders, employee representatives, and external stakeholders. The role combines leadership accountability for the local HR team with direct responsibility for operational HR delivery in a complex, cross-country environment.

 

About the role 

 

  • Manage and develop the local HR teams in UK & Ireland, ensuring high-quality HR service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws, regulations, and collective agreements (where applicable).
  • Act as escalation point for complex employee relations matters in collaboration with Country HR, Legal, and external advisors.
  • Work closely with HR Business Partners to support business leaders, ensuring that HR initiatives and people-related decisions are legally sound and effectively implemented at local level.
  • Serve as primary interface between business leaders, the SSC, and HR CoEs, ensuring smooth handling of HR transactions and people processes.
  • Monitor service delivery performance, identify gaps, and implement improvements in employee experience. Translate global HR standards and initiatives into executable practices in the UK & IRE.
    Provide direction, coaching, and development for the HR teams in the UK & Ireland.
  • Cultivate an effective, customer-focused culture in HR service delivery.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process efficiency, harmonization, and standardization in local HR processes.
  • Ensure audit readiness, accuracy of HR data, and compliance with HR controls, data protection standards, and labor regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement of HR processes and ensure operational excellence across both countries.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with business leaders, line managers, and employee representatives.
  • Represent HR in audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions in the UK & Ireland.
  • Support communication and change management for HR initiatives and organizational changes at country level.

 

Job requirements and experience 

 

  • Effective leadership and management abilities in working with people.
  • Service-oriented mindset with high focus on execution and delivery.
  • Proficient communication and interpersonal skills, able to build trust with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Methodical and structured working style; comfortable with HR data and reporting.
  • Pragmatic, experienced, and solution-driven, with the ability to manage complexity in a multinational setting.
  • 7+ years of experience in operational HR roles, including responsibility for employee lifecycle topics and HR services.
  • Effective leadership experience in managing HR teams across multiple countries.
  • Extensive knowledge of UK and Irish labour law, social partner collaboration, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and enhance HR processes in an international setting.
  • Experience in handling employee relations topics and acting as escalation point for complex cases.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems (e.g. SAP, SuccessFactors) and workforce data management.
