Specialist Engineer Explosive Atmospheres (ATEX)

Location – Swindon, UK

Contract Type – Permanent

Main Purpose of the Role

The engineering department of RWE Technology International GmbH is a mixed team with employees from various disciplines such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering and environmental engineering. We are active in various national and international projects and cover all project phases from project development to turnkey handover. These include new construction projects, for example in the areas of hydrogen,  battery storage and power plants.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Central contact person for all planning and operational explosion protection-relevant tasks and questions.
  • Development and preparation of explosion protection concepts or documents in close cooperation with other specialist departments.
  • Collaboration in hydrogen / battery storage and other plant projects leading in the field of explosion protection.
  • Cooperation in tendering and awarding of expert services as well as approval processes.

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Degree in engineering (safety technology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or comparable) or alternatively a technical qualification and experience of explosion protection.
  • Advanced knowledge of the preparation of explosion protection concepts or documents, taking into account the relevant regulations.
  • Process engineering knowledge in project planning of power plants or industrial plants using ATEX products according to 2014/34/EU or IECEx certified products or protective systems.
  • Experience in assembly, commissioning, operation, testing or maintenance of former plants, whereby the areas of the petrochemical, chemical, gas or power plant industry would be advantageous here.
  • IECEx certification or also experience in a testing institution.
