At RWE Technology UK (RWET UK), the UK division of RWE Technology International, we specialize in delivering top-tier project consultancy and facilities management expertise to RWE Generation across the UK and Europe. Our Safety department plays a crucial role in ensuring high-risk activities, such as construction and demolition, are managed effectively, efficiently, and consistently. We also extend this vital support to our Facilities and Estates Management team.

 

We are seeking an innovative and proactive Senior Safety Expert to join our dynamic, international occupational safety department. In this role, you’ll provide expert guidance to our colleagues in RWET. With regular travel to sites across the UK and occasional opportunities to work further afield, this position promises variety, and growth.

About the role

  • Serve as the key contact for all safety-related topics within RWE Technology UK.
  • Coordinate, mentor, and support a small team of UK-based safety advisors in alignment with the RWETI Safety Team lead.
  • Provide expertise and ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 for construction design management.
  • Lead Health and Safety efforts for RWE UK projects (e.g., hydrogen, CCGT, Battery Storage) and facilities management, with occasional international support.
  • Develop solutions for new safety situations within RWE guidelines and assist in implementing H&S programs, including campaigns and the RWE Generation Agenda.
  • Maintain RWETI external certifications, the H&S Management System, and support the delivery of the Health & Safety strategy and improvement plan.
  • Investigate safety incidents and develop corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain key relationships with workforce, management, and contractors, providing expert health and safety guidance.

 

Job Requirements and Experience

  • Preferably NEBOSH Diploma qualified or working towards, with relevant experience in construction design management, facilities management, and Health & Safety expertise.
  • Chartered or Graduate Member of IOSH with up-to-date CPD, demonstrating strong knowledge of the UK Energy Industry and energy processes.
  • Extensive experience with Construction Design Management (CDM) 2015 regulations, including fulfilling duties under these regulations.
  • Proven ability to influence change and drive tangible improvements in Health & Safety performance and culture.
  • Experienced in leading, mentoring, and influencing teams on large, complex construction projects and within facility and estates management.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills, with a focus on collaboration, consistency, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Skilled in incident investigation and root cause analysis, delivering actionable recommendations to improve safety outcomes.
  • Experience working in Top Tier COMAH sites preferred, with a demonstrated ability to manage large-scale, complex projects.

  • An expected starting salary from approximately £70,000 to £85,000 depending on experience and up to 15% annual bonus
