Regulatory Risk Analyst

The Regulatory Risk team takes on the responsibility directly from the RWEST Board for finding the best operational implementation for any major regulation change, balancing the need for compliance with a strong focus on a commercial imperative.

Your responsibilities

  • Coordinate the internal evaluation of new regulations to make a first assessment of the strategic and operational impact on trading operations and profitability
  • Prepare Board-ready written proposals, presentations and assessments of regulatory risk
  • Quantify regulatory impact for external lobbying
  • Chairing of the Regulatory Management Committee
  • Run projects as necessary
  • Travel between locations (Essen, Swindon and London) is occasionally required


Your powerful skills

  • Good understanding of the energy industry and, in particular, commodities trading
  • Awareness of the financial and ESG regulatory environment is an advantage
  • Evidence of the application of strong analytical and structured approaches to complex issues, the use of appropriate questioning and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with stakeholders at all hierarchy levels in order to ensure good collaboration and high quality deliverables
  • Degree-level or equivalent qualification, preferably in Economics, Maths, Science or Law
  • The role will be predominantly in English, but additional German language proficiency is advantageous
  • We are looking for someone who can use their experience and natural motivation to bring structure and focus to complex challenges that have no easy answer
