About the role
Are you interested in an engineering placement with one of the UK’s largest energy producers? Our Materials team has an exciting industrial placement opportunity and is looking for a motivated team member with excellent interpersonal skills! RWE Generation, Gas, Engineering & Outage Group supports our portfolio of gas, biomass and hydro power stations. Within this, our Mechanical & Materials Team handle all aspects of component integrity and remnant life prediction.
- This role involves hands-on work in our metallurgical laboratories, assisting with failure assessments and development work.
- The opportunity to visit operating power station sites such as our Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power station in Pembroke to assist with site based inspection, maintenance and repair activities.
- You will develop your laboratory skills for materials and defect characterisation using optical and scanning electron microscopy.
- You will learn about the power generation industry and the exciting developments and career opportunities that will lead us to net zero.
- You will receive on-the-job training, and attend courses and workshops for your personal development.
Job Requirements and Experience
- You should be pursuing a BEng or MEng degree, ideally in Materials Science and Engineering.
- If you are studying for a degree in a related Engineering subject and you are interested in materials and laboratory work then we encourage you to apply!
- Your degree should include an industrial placement year to meet the requirements for this role.
