Marine Engineer

Our Marine & Logistics department within RWE Renewables in Hamburg or Swindon is looking for a Marine Engineer to provide expert support on Jack Up Vessels, SOVs, CTVs and any other marine operations to deliver and optimize operational activities across the Offshore Wind fleet.


Your tasks:

  • Support the operational fleet and act as a centre of competence regarding vessels and marine operations. This includes crew vessel, SOVs, supply vessels as well as heavy lift vessels and jack ups
  • Plan, lead and support all kinds of marine campaigns, such as major component exchange campaigns or scheduled maintenance campaigns using SOVs
  • Support SOV built and charter projects
  • Operational assessment of asset suitability, stability calculations, sea fastening designs and deck layouts
  • Review of environmental load studies, site-specific assessments, penetration analysis and positioning plans
  • Technical assessment of Jack-up and SOV operations, heavy-lift concepts and workability studies
  • Define standards, processes, and consistent approaches across the portfolio for vessel surveys, vessel inspections (on-/off-hire etc), CTV/JUV/SOV management
  • Support the procurement processes by reviewing/creating the Scope of Works, technical tender evaluations and negotiations.
  • Review technical documentation such as risk assessments, method statements, lift plans and operating instructions
  • Coordinate internal and external parties such as scheduling, engineering, certification, marine coordination, HSSE, authorities, vessel suppliers, marine warranty surveyor
  • Optimize marine operations across the fleet
  • Lead special marine projects, such as alternative fuel concepts, floating and digitalization


Your profile:

  • Finished degree and/or relevant background in maritime project engineering, engineering or marine science degree required.
  • At least five years’ experience in marine project management
  • Marine project management experience as a marine project manager/ engineer
  • Offshore wind experience is beneficial
  • Deep understanding and proven operational experience of all kinds of vessel operations such as jacking, DP, lifting, etc.
  • Excellent skills of written and spoken English language
  • Very good communication skills
  • Structured thinking, development of methods and procedures
  • Willingness to travel (UK/CE) and to work offshore for short periods
