About the role

Are you interested in a placement with one of the UK’s largest energy producers? Our Gas Asset Management group has an exciting industrial placement opportunity and is looking for a motivated team member with excellent interpersonal skills!

RWE Generation’s Gas Asset Management group supports our portfolio of gas fired power stations across Europe. Our Gas Asset Management role will allow you to work across the portfolio teams in this group, focusing on the variety of analytical work we do to support the business using the latest tools and techniques. The teams cover the range of Asset Management work from business planning and strategy, to environmental and risk management, to optimising the technical and commercial performance of our highly efficient gas-fired power plant. We embrace our responsibility towards the environment and are committed to continually improving our performance for both generation and the environment.

During your placement, you will work across the teams on some essential tasks such as:

    • Developing and improving processes and templates used to support Business planning and forecasting.
    • Optimising and consolidating operational performance reporting tools.
    • Updating risk registers and frameworks and analysing their contents. You will be looking for common subjects, consistent assessments and opportunities for outcomes, that are the basis for regular reviews.
    • Applying analytical skills to environmental issues, such as modelling power station impacts on the environment or analysing the implications of developing environmental regulation.
    • Supporting experienced colleagues in the Generation and associated areas, applying your skills, and learning new ones.
    • You will attend courses, workshops and on the job training for your personal development.
    • You will have the opportunity to spend time with the disciplines across the Asset Management function, learning about the challenges of managing a pan-European portfolio business.

Job Requirements and Experience

  • Ideally, you are pursuing a degree in the areas of STEM or Economics, and you are interested in applying data modelling and analysis to problems. You will be highly numerate and able to work across a range of topics, learning from our experts, and building your knowledge.
  • Your degree should include a placement year to meet the requirements for this role.

What we will offer you

  • A salary of £23,628.
  • A personal retirement savings plan – if you put in 5% we will top up by a further 10% and you will get life assurance worth 4 x annual salary.
