This is an exciting opportunity to join RWE Technology UK.  We are looking for talented electrical engineers including a senior electrical engineer and individuals with specialist electrical engineering knowledge to be  key members of a growing team of  specialists based in the UK and part of a wider international team, providing engineering services for energy decarbonisation across the project lifecycle.  

Key Responsibilities

As an RWE Technology UK electrical engineer you will join a team delivering multiple projects across  energy decarbonisation technologies.  Our projects include blue and green hydrogen production, grid support & restoration technologies, grid scale battery storage, plant conversions, carbon capture and storage and combined cycle power plants amongst a host of others.   

Location will be agile, dependent on task or project. You will be responsible for ensuring the technical development & delivery of projects and tasks.  These are a broad roles including specification and assessment of contract scopes, system modelling, grid connection applications & compliance assessment, technical problem solving and quality assurance through manufacturing & construction.  You will be responsible for prioritising your own workload and managing individual work packages, utilising the internal and external resources as necessary.

Your know-how & commitment will deliver project deliverables including:


  • Planning, scoping  and delivery of electrical projects and project packages
  • Conceptional design of main and auxiliary power supply networks and electrical components in the sectors of battery energy storage, hydrogen generation and electrical power generation
  • Coordination of grid connection process with national and district network grid operators
  • Design  & simulation of electrical networks including fault level management; earthing, power & load flows, protection discrimination; arc flash studies etc.
  • Evaluation of electrical equipment for grid connected assets and operational plant
  • Development of optimisation measures for plant operation
  • Preparation of technical specifications, contract tender documents, bid review and evaluation
  • Technical project management of electrotechnical work scopes, interface management, quality control of detailed planning and manufacturing
  • Supervision of assembly and commissioning


Knowledge & Skills

You will have

  • Batchelor Degree or equivalent in electrical engineering
  • Several years of professional experience in electrical engineering and construction of large-scale projects or, plant operational maintenance in the power industry or relevant process industry

We are seeking to recruit individuals with a range of skills which may include:

  • In-depth process knowledge of electrical power systems including generation, BESS, protection systems, switchgear, transformers
  • Proficiency in power system modelling and associated software tools.  A working understanding of DIgSILENT PowerFactory is desirable.
  • Existing knowledge of hydrogen electrolyser projects
  • General knowledge in the field of decentralized electricity generation and storage and their behaviour on the grid
  • Good knowledge of current UK health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Strong organisational and  problem solving skills. 
  • Good communication and interpersonal capabilities as well as
  • Good Negotiation skills
  • Willingness to travel in the country and abroad
