We have an exciting opportunity for Shift Operations & Maintenance Technicians to join us at Staythorpe power station!

An exciting future awaits Staythorpe as we transition to providing remote support for our CCGT portfolio, all from our brand-new state of the art control room. Staythorpe power station is also one of the proposed locations for CCS within RWE Generation UK. Which will help support RWE in reaching its goal to be carbon neutral by 2040.

 

Main Purpose of the Role

 

As a member of the Operations and Maintenance Team, you will contribute towards delivering the safe, reliable and commercial performance of our portfolio. The post holder will be responsible for operating Staythorpe plant locally from the Fleet Control Room, operation of other fleet CCGT’s remotely and carrying out plant O&M routines in line with our procedures. This will include fault diagnosis and breakdown recovery.

We will require you to perform O&M duties on a shift basis as required, as well as collaborating with site-based maintenance team, supporting with plant outages and recommissioning as required. As the trend towards growing volumes of renewable generation continues, you should expect maintenance routines to form a growing part of your core role.

Knowledge & Skills

 

  • Have a recognised engineering or operations background, or craft skill in an electrical, mechanical or C&I discipline. HNC, ONC, or equivalent.
  • Prior process operations and maintenance experience.
  • Have effective interpersonal skills and be proficient in the use of applicable business IT systems such as Microsoft Office, SAP.
  • Be a self-motivated individual able to work with minimum supervision, while handling changing priorities and providing support to the team.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, regulations and directives.
  • Values and Behaviours – Role modelling the RWE desired behaviours; Trust, Passion and Performance. This will mean working with others in an open, transparent and consistent way and in a manner that demonstrably puts the needs of RWE Generation ahead of individual departmental or personal objectives.
  • Possess an understanding of safety management systems including safe systems of work e.g. permit to work systems.
  • Agile in their approach to supporting the Station and Portfolio through varied working hours and application of skills.
  • Ability and willingness to retrain and to develop new skills. Staythorpe is the location for our Fleet Control Room which will provide opportunities to broaden your skills across a range of different sites and technologies.

  • As well as a competitive starting salary band from £44,000 – 57,000 depending upon skills and experience, a shift allowance of £13,230.7 per annum
