About the role

Ready to help scale RWEST’s freight franchise across Asia? This is a high-impact, senior lead trading role where you’ll take and manage risk in a dynamic market, working shoulder to shoulder with a strong, experienced team that backs bold, well-judged ideas.

Based in Singapore and collaborating closely with colleagues in Swindon, you’ll bring market insight, commercial courage and disciplined execution to grow our Asia freight activity while building trusted relationships across the globe.

• Deliver sustainable P&L by taking and managing dry bulk freight risk within agreed VaR and delta limits. With a focus on the Capesize market.
• Shape and scale RWEST’s Asia freight activity by turning market views into well-structured positions and trades.
• Build, deepen and leverage relationships with global counterparties across the dry bulk ecosystem.
• Role-model senior, professional trading standards — decisive, accountable and commercially astute — and coach others by example.
• Collaborate seamlessly with teammates in Singapore and Swindon to manage exposures end-to-end and reduce fragmented risk ownership.
• Operate within RWEST guidelines and frameworks to ensure disciplined, compliant execution from idea to deal settlement.

Job requirements and experience

• Significant, successful track record trading dry bulk freight, predominantly but not exclusively in the Capesize market, with clear P&L delivery and disciplined risk management across spot and forward markets.
• Deep knowledge of liquidity, volatility, arbitrage, swaps and options, with hands-on experience of counterparty credit and contract terms.
• Strong external network and trusted relationships in the freight market, including Asia-focused counterparties.
• Clear, confident communicator and collaborative team player who acts as #TeamRWE, shares knowledge and supports others.
• Entrepreneurial decision-maker who takes ownership, moves from strategy to action, and learns fast from feedback and setbacks.
• Acts as a lead trader and provides close support/mentoring to other Singapore based team members.
• Resilient and safety-minded professional who speaks up, challenges constructively, and champions inclusion and respect.

Advantageous, but not essential

• Familiarity with IMOS.
