The Regulatory Manager is a key role within the RWE Clean Energy (RWECE) Regulatory Team working on Wholesale Markets in the West region.  The Regulatory Manager will focus on monitoring and advocating for market policies that will advance the interests of RWECE within the Western interconnect. This role will be based out of RWECE’s San Diego or San Francisco office locations on a hybrid schedule.

 

 Responsibilities:

  • Identify wholesale market opportunities within the organized and unrestructured regions of the US Western Interconnect
  • Develop and execute regulatory advocacy strategies designed to represent the commercial interests of RWECE
  • Manage contract consultants and trade association relationships to support the advancement of onshore renewables and storage policies and regulations
  • Develop coalitions with a variety of industry stakeholders and ensure consistent internal communications on issues impacting the Company
  • Analyze and track regulatory policy changes to assess impacts on the Company
  • Communicate proposed and potential wholesale market changes with risks and opportunities to RWECE
  • Comply with state lobbying reporting requirements
  • Facilitate sponsorship and conference participation opportunities 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Policy, or other relevant areas required, advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of demonstrated experience within US-organized wholesale electric power markets
  • Significant experience with the electric power industry, preferably within renewable energy development, and a strong understanding of  FERC-regulated wholesale electric markets
  • Experience within other segments of the energy industry, such as natural gas or petroleum is desirable
  • Comfortable working with internal ad hoc cross-functional teams in a dynamic work environment
  • Demonstrated relationships with the policymakers and regulatory personnel. Expertise in developing political strategies with key stakeholders to support the advancement of competitive market solutions
  • Experience in effectively communicating complex issues with key stakeholders who are not experts in utility-scale electric industry jargon
  • Be able to accomplish directed tasks on time with minimal direction, resolve problems as they arise, and able to work in a highly dynamic work environment with multiple priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation development

 

 

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in California is $119,000 - $179,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
