Reporting to the Regional Vice President, the Senior Manager, O&M of the West region oversees the operations of assigned renewable energy assets. This role combines leadership and operational management, overseeing multidisciplinary teams that promote a safety-first and engaging culture, delivering continuously improving results, implementing best practices, and driving improvement initiatives.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the highest level of health and safety practices in all facilities within the jurisdiction
  • Supervise & manage a decentralized team of individuals supporting the operation and maintenance activities of renewable energy facilities to assure safety, minimize budget variances, and maximize availability
  • Develops and implements strategic and tactical plans by studying market conditions and internal operational needs, identifying technological and cost reduction opportunities; presents assumptions and recommends objectives and execution of strategies necessary to achieve agreed-upon performance targets to the Vice President, Operations
  • In conjunction with the VP, O&M Region West, develops the region’s annual business plan, mid-term plan (MTP), and three-year forward plan, including the financial, budget, and FTE requirements to achieve the plan and for delivery of results against the plan
  • Manages, guides, and supports work instruction development, technician training, safety and skill development, quality management and quality control processes, resource deployment, and service delivery plans, including goals, strategies, and performance measures for all aspects of the regional performance delivery; successfully implements corresponding operational plans, capital plans and other supporting initiatives within approved budgets
  • Coordinates planning and execution efforts with all stakeholder Departments by establishing strong, collaborative relationships with support departments that provide essential skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to effectively and profitably deliver cost savings and achieve goals, such as Asset Management, HSSE, Procurement, Compliance, and the Remote Operations Center
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards and performance metrics across all lines of business
  • Assists direct reports in providing coaching and guidance to their teams
  • Interface with landowners, local and state authorities, and the general public, where required

 

Qualifications: 

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 12 years overall experience in power plant operation, transmission, or substation electrical systems with at least 4 years in Renewable Energy Generation
  • Previous profit and loss experience with a company or division in the early stages of growth is desired
  • At least 4 years of supervisory, managerial, and budget experience; demonstrated leadership skills with a solid track record of accountability and delivery of results
  • Extensive knowledge of power generation systems, installation techniques, troubleshooting practices, and electrical systems
  • Good working knowledge of budgeting, work scheduling cost management tools, and processes
  • Proven ability to provide training, feedback, performance management, and leadership to others
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines as well as pivot as priorities shift
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
  • This position is an office-based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE offices and field locations.  The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time. Frequent travel may be required, with long and irregular work hours from time to time on various RWE and third-party sites throughout North America. Further travel will be required to other conferences and business meetings as necessary.

 

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in California is $126,000-$190,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
