The Large Correctives Supervisor reports to, assists and supports the Director, Major Maintenance & Technical Services in managing and coordinating the operation of Large Correctives activities performed for RWE Clean Energy Operations. Ensures safe and efficient operations, minimizing costs and optimizing performance in accordance with RWE Clean Energy’s mission and essential behaviors.
Role Responsibilities:
- Adheres to the company’s values and behaviors as defined by the RWECE philosophy
- Ensures all operations and maintenance activities are performed in a safe manner consistent with policies and procedures established for the wind farm site
- Strong ability to lead, train and support the team; demonstrated ability to share knowledge, develop and lead individual team members toward successful performance at every job
- Leads a team in performing up-tower major component replacements from multiple turbine manufactures, including GE, Siemens, Vestas, Gamesa, Acciona and/or Mitsubishi; replacements include:
- Plan, schedule and mobilize all replacement equipment to site
- Assist in transportation, setup and the operation of up-tower gearbox replacement tools
- Lead major component replacements, which will primarily focus on gearboxes and generators
- Assure proper storage, maintenance and handling of all Large Corrective tools and equipment
- Supervises, trains and motivates personnel assigned to the major component replacement team
- Manages the team’s approval of time sheets, per diem and expense reports in accordance with company guidelines
- Assures all DOT-related rules, regulations and requirements are followed and performed as required by team
- Assures the team remains within the operational budget for vehicles, tools and equipment repair and replacements
- Conducts annual performance reviews and personal development plans for the team and ensures timely delivery of mid-term reviews
Job Requirements and Experiences:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with the operations and/or maintenance of power generation and related facilities, including a minimum of one (1) year working as a Lead or in a Supervisory position in Wind or related renewable energy industry
- People management experience strongly preferred
- Turbine major component replacement experience required
- Experience across multiple manufactures (i.e. Siemens, GE, Vestas, Mitsubishi) strongly preferred
- Previous crane and rigging experience required
- Applies in-depth knowledge of large corrective field work, crane and rigging operations, and safety practices to lead daily tasks
- Uses work orders, schedules and SOPs to assign and track field activities
- Familiar with incident reporting and documentation requirements
- Resolves daily operational issues (e.g. tool readiness, crew assignments, safety incidents)
- Escalates complex or unfamiliar problems to management
- Works closely with Technicians to assign work, give feedback and ensure compliance
- Reports to Manager on crew status and needs
- Directly supervises a team of Technicians
- Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools
- Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
- Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Ability to multi-task, while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
- Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable

- Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
