As an Electrical Senior Project Engineer Onshore you will provide the Electrical Engineering support to our Renewable Onshore Energy Business in Southern Europe, providing expertise for our assets in Development, under Construction and during Operations and De-commissioning for RWE Renewables with a focus on farm/plant Layout and Electrical Balance of Plant (E-BoP) design.
Your tasks

Being point of contact and taking technical responsibility for the Electrical Engineering during project development, construction and operation as for:

Prepare and/or review/align concept/early Engineering of E-BoP for onshore assets partially in-house, partially with support from external engineering service providers

Prepare and/or review/align Execution E-BoP designs, reports, specifications and drawings ensuring the compliance with national/international standards and project requirements

Support the preparation of regulatory plans of administrative files such as environmental authorization/ building permit
-
Develop Request for Proposals (RFPs) for engineering work, evaluate the submissions and make recommendations on their selection

Support the tender, negotiation and procurement process for the E-BoP of the project
-
Interact with external consultants and review the design documents prepared by contractors for consistency with project requirements

Support the interconnection (grid connection) processes, organize all relevant technical documentation, test reports and certification
-
Provide technical management of the electrical works on the project construction site, including site management of electrical engineering units for wind power/ PV/ battery plants and substations

Actively participate in Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests of assets and components

Prepare with the Construction Manager the E-BoP contracting (drawings, documentation) and align on construction topics, especially the preparation of the execution works. If needed, perform site visits during construction phase to report the technical validity, feasibility or compliance with agreed guidelines, specifications and design

Collect and maintain as-built drawings and documentation

Support the technical due diligence of the electrical designs of projects (e.g. mergers & acquisitions), analyze simulation results, review and promote technical solutions detailing any subsequent risks and make proposals for technical and commercial decisions

Identify new opportunities in the market re. contractors for Electrical Engineering designs and execution; lead benchmarking, prequalification and selection of consultants

Improve specifications and designs with experience and feedback from operating assets; harmonize designed solutions and specifications based on local requirements

Collaborate with colleagues in the Development and Construction departments, and in the global Electrical Engineering Community of Practice within RWE Renewables
Your profile

Successfully completed university degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
-
Familiarity with Italian Standards and experience with grid operators re. market grid connection process
-
Relevant experience in the electrical design, construction and operation of wind farms’ main electrical components (MV and HV)
-
Professional experience in onshore wind farms executive design and optimization of wind farms in one or more of the following: infrastructures, logistics and interconnection

Excellent professional skills in Power factory.

Experience with tenders and review of construction projects, documentation and QA/QC procedures
-
Good understanding of power system analysis and experience regarding technical contract management and negotiation as well as technical claim management

Enjoy working in an international team and within virtual teams

Valid driver’s license and flexibility to travel domestic and internationally
-
Good communications skills fluent in English (speaking and writing) and Italian. Additional languages skills are beneficial such as Spanish or German.
