Within the Onshore Construction Europe department of RWE Renewables, under the lead of the Construction Lead Manager, the Project Manager Construction will contribute to the successful completion of Wind & PV Onshore projects in Italy and occasionally projects in south European locations (Greece/Spain/Portugal).
As a Senior Project Construction Manager you deliver Wind & PV Onshore projects from FID (Financial Investment Decision) through construction to COD (Commercial Operation Date).
You provide strong, effective and decisive project leadership and establish an execution framework to deliver the projects on time, within budget and in compliance with HSE, quality and other requirements and obligations.

 

Requirements:

 

During Development Phase
(up to Handover Development to Construction)

  • Advice on constructability of designs, if requested by Engineering
  • Contribute in defining and implementing a procurement strategy led by Procurement department as well as coordinating the RWE Project Team for the creation of Employer’s Requirements documents as required for tendering and negotiating EPC contracts and other main contracts
  • Contribute in identifying and assessing construction risks. Resolve and mitigate potential construction risks assigned to him/her in the development phase.
  • Responsible for budget for construction.
  • Development of construction project plans (e.g. quality plan/registers, construction time schedule, project execution plan, etc.) to support the project business case and to enable the Financial Investment Decision.

 

During Construction Phase
(from Handover Development to Construction until handover Construction to Operations):

  • Orchestrating the whole project governance and ensuring regular status reporting both weekly and monthly.
  • Monitoring profit & loss performance of the projects (cost reports) and performing analyses to assist in reducing costs while maintaining productivity and schedule.
  • Conducting regular project inspections and supervising of work progress, quality of work and safety conditions requiring attention.
  • Managing the contracts (e.g. checking of invoices, managing notifications, claims, etc.) with partners, engineers, major suppliers and subcontractors and coordinating their work to ensure all work is within project scope and specifications according to the specific contracts.
  • Continually monitoring the projects to assure adherence to company and regulatory processes and procedures
  • Ensuring the projects comply with all national and local codes and requirements
  • Ensuring the projects comply with Health, Safety and Environmental obligations
  • Ensuring appropriate levels of communication are maintained with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring all necessary measures to comply with the Grid Code to be able to feed electricity into grid at commissioning

 

During Operations Phase
(after Handover Construction to Operations)

  • Manage the completion of the works listed in the Punch List
  • Support Operations for matters related to the construction contracts until final acceptance certificate

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, ideally electrical or civil engineering, and at least five years of relevant work experience in the area of construction of renewable assets, ideally Wind Onshore or Photovoltaic, gained if possible in an international environment.
  • Proven track record in effective Construction Project Management.
  • Knowledge in project management as well as sound technical knowledge about Renewables assets or electrical systems (e.g. substations, transformers, inverters).
  • Very good analytical skills coupled with the required drive to execute and deliver projects.
  • Excellent team-player with very good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Italian speaker with fluent professional English required. An additional European language is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel on a regular basis (up to 40-50 %)
  • Proactive self-starter, highly motivated, focused on working at a high level and producing an excellent work product under changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and interface effectively with cross-functional groups.
  • MS Office tools regular user, including MS Project
