The role holder is empowered to act as functional leader and act on behalf of the Head of HSE Development, Construction & Operations – for the italian cluster. For the companies, technologies and functions supported he will be responsible for the management and coordination of all HSE matters, act as their main HSE point of contact; he will manage and coordinate compliance with the statutory and RWE internal HSE requirements. 

 

Main tasks:

  • Functional management of the assigned HSE Professionals, incl. but not limited to target setting & review, coaching, day-to-day activities. Functional steering of (external) project HSE Professionals if required. 
  • Manage, coordinate and support the provision of health, safety and environmental-related assistance for the assigned units incl. interfaces/cooperation with authorities.  
  • Proactively support and advise line/functional/project management and top management in meeting their HSE responsibility and the development and promotion of an excellent HSE culture. 
  • Authorship, promotion and continuous improvement of the France HSE Management System requirements for all technologies and sites in close collaboration with the HSE Governance function. 
  • Ensure legal HSE requirements are identified and considered, amongst others by liaising with the regulatory authorities, and compliance is evaluated on a regular basis. 
  • Plan, monitor and report HSE and Sustainability KPIs in the defined area of responsibility. Consult with and report to management in the supported units as well as RWE Renewables globally. 
  • Conduct Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) in a self-reliant manner, especially when it comes to events with severe consequences and events with high damage potential incl. consultation/cooperation with the respective authorities/entities in charge. 
  • Advisory role for engineering, development and construction activities with respect to compliance with specific requirements according to the “temporary or mobile construction site regulation” implemented on a country level.
  • Conduct and support hazard risk assessments and derive actions. 
  • Manage and continue developing the emergency management, support crisis management if required. 
  • Design and provide safety-related training and courses based on focus analyses for the remit area in order to qualify and skill relevant staff in terms of health, safety or environmental topics. 
  • Conduct and develop/advance integrated HSE-walk programs, inspections and audits pursuant to country occupational HSE legislation as well as RWER HSE governance requirements to check and ensure conformity with the law/RWER requirements. 
  • Keep continuously advancing H&S-related IT tools (e.g. for risk assessments, incident management, audits & inspections).  
  • Plan, steer and follow-up of HSE activities at regional level in coordination with the Onshore and Photovoltaics Europe & Australia (OPEA) and HSE Governance & Performance function. 
  • Manage the occupational Health & Safety committee meetings required by law.  
  • Representing RWER at external country HSE relevant forums or groups as required. 
  • Cooperate with occupational health specialists when it comes to occupational diseases. 
  • Cooperation with codetermination bodies, management and labour as well as employer representatives (as applicable) to develop or review company agreements, (Group) policies or assessments/evaluations. 
  • Assume the duty of Environmental Officer and support sustainability activities if required. 
  • Take over special assignments, also on an international basis. 

 

Key qualification/Skills:

 

  • Completed university studies (M.Sc./Diploma) in a relevant subject area (engineering-related/safety/risk engineering or similar studies) 
  • Comprehensive job experience (> 10 years) and HSE-specific qualifications, preferably in the energy sector 
  • Good working knowledge of Italian Health & Safety and Environmental legislation  
  • Experience in developing, implementing and updating an HSE Management System, preferably aligned with ISO 14001, 45001 or similar 
  • Wide-ranging expertise in the area of Health, Safety & Environment 
  • Good health, with general all-round fitness to work at height  
  • Pronounced target and profit accountability taking customer requirements into account 
  • Analytical and conceptional skills 
  • Very good command of written and spoken English, additional languages of advantage 
  • High degree of self-directed initiative and personal responsibility 
  • Decision-making competence 
  • Good assertiveness, persuasiveness and openness to dialogue 
  • Pronounced team spirit and communication skills 
  • High level of facilitation and presentation skills 
  • Agile way of working in conjunction with a high willingness to travel, incl. international travels
