Assistant Lawyer - Real Estate Scotland

RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd., Various, Großbritannien (GB)  

To start as soon as possible, Full time, Permanent

 

The role:

  • Assistant lawyer in the Real Estate and Regulatory team
  • Conducting and managing Scottish renewable energy projects and real estate matters
  • Reporting to the Head of EU Team and supervised by the Senior Real Estate solicitor in UK
  • Working closely with the development team in Scotland, and other stakeholders, eg operations teams, partnering team and offshore project teams 
  • Work across the international RWE Renewables’ business to deliver a holistic and streamlined service
  • Participation in standardization and process improvement initiatives
  • Innovative thinking, developing non-standard and customized solutions when needed for bespoke transactions

 

Must be competent to carry out:

  • Real estate development work
  • Site acquisitions
  • Site assembly
  • Landlord and tenant work
  • Access agreements and other ancillary land agreements
  • General real estate matters eg freehold acquisitions, easements/wayleaves, covenants, asset management etc

 

Requirements:

  • Qualified as a solicitor or barrister in Scotland is a pre requisite.
  • Dual qualification UK and Scotland is not essential but may be helpful
  • Experience with PQE in non-contentious real estate
  • Must have experience from in-house, international, national or boutique specialist real estate/energy law firm
  • Have excellent communication skills and be able to explain technical issues concisely to a broad audience. Must be approachable and service orientated
  • Be flexible to adapt to the changing needs of the business and changes in work stream/demands, and in dealing with people
  • Confident and able to manage budgets and external expenditure, together with managing external advisors
  • Be a confident negotiator with third parties, adopting a commercial and pragmatic approach

 

Experience in the following would be beneficial:

  • Renewable energy sector work, including on and offshore developments, some hydro and battery storage
  • In-house experience
  • Knowledge of the planning/consenting process
  • agricultural land
  • Technically knowledgeable and able to give reliable, pragmatic advice succinctly and in a timely manner
