Cyber Security OT - Plant OT Security Engineer 

Location – Didcot, Kings Lynn

Contract Type – Permanent

Working Hours – Full Time

Main Purpose of the Role

Use your DCS/SCADA knowledge and experience and extend it to become an OT security engineer responsible for information security at our power plants. In collaboration with engineers at the site and the central security teams, you are responsible for the implementation of security measures, managing security incidents at the power plants and the coordination of different security activities. You’ll also have involvement in DCS/SCADA maintenance activities at the power plants to ensure their safe, reliable operation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of the OT Security Strategy within RWE Generation at the power plants
  • Support to the sites in the operation of the Information Security Management System (risk analyses, audits, selection and monitoring of security measures, etc.)
  • Extend your knowledge in the plant control system and cyber security requirements whilst working alongside the power plant engineers with maintenance activities and delivery of projects and outages
  • Use your OT knowledge to ensure focus on OT security when changes are proposed to OT systems
  • Assistance in the delivery of best practice solutions and regulations in the area of Information Security Management (definition of procedures, standards, concepts, etc.).
  • Convert security requirements into processes, technical documentation and work instructions for the plants and implementation of these requirements
  • Sharing knowledge and experiences within the organization
  • Use your DCS/SCADA knowledge to manage OT vulnerabilities and evaluate relevant attacks, technologies and trends in OT security for the plant control systems
  • Reporting the status of power plant security measures, and incidents
  • Coordinates and/or implements training, audits, risk assessments and inspections at the plants
  • Continuously improves the security of the operational systems
  • Participates in the national and central security team
  • Advising and supporting the plant management team in OT security issues

 

Your knowledge & skills

  • Completed university or technical college studies in computer science, mathematics, engineering or comparable education
  • Willingness to learn and develop in OT cyber security requirements
  • Very good knowledge of OT infrastructures and OT application architectures especially with DCS/SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of power plant engineering and power plant operation would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of DCS and C&I is an advantage
  • Knowledge of Siemens SCADA/DCS products would be an advantage.
  • Several years of professional experience in the energy sector or other process industry
  • Experience in assisting delivery of projects
  • High professional competence as the basis for a convincing and confident appearance
  • Above-average commitment, flexibility and resilience
  • Ability to communicate at both a technical and managerial level
  • Business fluent in English
  • High empathy and assertiveness
  • Clear team orientation and high integrity
  • Willingness to travel between and work at different UK plants
