Business Development Manager

This role could be located in any of our global offices and we are open to both full and part time applications

The Business Development Manager / Investment Manager (Offshore) will sit within the Pipeline & Origination Management team and will work closely with our Global Offshore Development Teams to secure new opportunities within the offshore market and be key to maintaining RWE Renewables leading role in Offshore Wind. This senior role will require the right candidate to be an experienced professional in the sector and have strong commercial acumen, a creative approach to problem solving and a collaborative way of working.

Key to the role will be maximising and protecting the value of RWE’s shareholder investment/interest in its joint venture assets, including optimising the value of the projects in line with RWE’s portfolio including costs, risks and liability considerations, while driving adherence to all safety, health, and environmental principles.

Key Accountabilities

  • Execution of the growth strategy through origination of new development opportunities within offshore wind globally
  • Contribute to establishing RWE Renewables presence within target countries
  • Represent Offshore Wind in the negotiation of joint venture Governance Agreements (SHA, MSA, DSA, JBA, etc);
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with joint venture partners ensuring RWE Renewable’s position is optimised whilst mitigating risks to the business
  • Support Offshore development activities, budgeting, strategy and board approval processes (partnering, CfD, FID/FC)
  • Provide general commercial expertise within the offshore department as issues arise across the portfolio

Skill, Knowledge & Experience

  • Experienced commercial professional with experience in the energy sector in commercial, investment management or business development roles
  • Ability to influence markets, potential partners and other stakeholders in order to create opportunities advantageous to RWE Renewables
  • Experience of structuring, negotiating and/or managing joint ventures (SHAs, MSDs etc) an advantage
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • English essential, additional language skills of advantage;
  • Ability to think strategically but also drill down to the detail at an individual project level
  • Ability to manage own performance, with a significant focus on delivery and an ability to balance a varied and challenging workload, whilst producing high quality results in demanding timeframes;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally (to board level) and externally, in multiple jurisdictions

Location, etc

Swindon/London/Hamburg/Essen or any of RWE Renewables European offices with flexibility to travel.

Full time, or part-time considered.
