A rewarding opportunity has arisen for highly motivated Offshore / Control Room Technician to join our Operations and Maintenance team at our Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm project based in Mostyn, Flintshire, UK.

 

About the Role

 

Control Room Operations

  • Act as Operational Controller under Wind Turbine Safety Rules and Safety co-ordinator
  • Marine management responsible for managing all vessel movements and maintaining logs for vessel and personnel tracking
  • Provide an effective interface between Renewables departments, RWEST, STPM, NGET Distribution Network Operators (DNO’s) and others
  • Ensure appropriate authorisations and safety paperwork available prior to release of plant
  • Control room is a 24/7 operations so shift patterns include night shifts and public holidays

 

Wind Farm Operations

  • Co-ordinate and control the maintenance and operation of the wind farm plant and associated equipment to achieve safe, efficient operation whilst complying with legal, company and local policies and procedures
  • Front Line Emergency Co-ordination
  • Assist in the broader management of the wind farm, contributing to policy and procedures whilst ensuring compliance.
  • Recording and monitoring access of staff and contractors at wind farm sites
  • Management of CMMS and associated works control

 

Maintenance Management Systems (IT)

  • Create, utilise and manage a range of standard and bespoke computer applications
  • Create and maintain work procedures and other local documentation

 

Offshore and Onshore Work

  • Carry out day-to-day work offshore with other team members as required
  • Flexibility will be required to follow tidal sail times and adjust shift patterns
  • Willingness to work offshore on a JUV for major component work as required
  • Support site functions to carry out maintenance tasks

 

Job requirements and experience

  • Show a versatile approach to work and be prepared to work alone or to lead or to work as part of a diverse team and develop future best practices
  • Good communication, numeracy and IT literate, familiar with Microsoft packages
  • Have the capacity to manage and maintain quality under a demanding and fluctuating workload
  • Have high safety and environmental awareness
  • Knowledge and experience of safety rules systems both Wind Turbine and High Voltage Safety Rules
  • Knowledge of the British Electricity Trading and Transmission Arrangements (BETTA)
  • Knowledge and experience of electronic maintenance management systems
  • Able to undertake and maintain all the required training courses and certifications to carry out work offshore
  • Electrical or Mechanical background and experience

 

Advantageous, but not essential

  • Knowledge of the Wind Industry

 

The working pattern will be 4 days on / 4 days off and then switching to 6 days on / 6 days off. The working hours in the control room will be 12 hour shifts and when offshore 10.5 hour shifts.

 

Due to the nature of the role, you must live within a one hour radius to site.

 

An offer of employment in this role may require holding active or ability to pass National Security vetting to SC level. Failure to obtain and or maintain National Security Vetting to SC may result in the removal of job offers and or existing employment.
