As Project Procurement Manager for RWE’s growing Onshore Wind, PV and BESS pipeline in Australia you will be responsible to lead all Procurement activities from the Early Development stage of a project to the Financial Investment Decision throughout the Construction Phase until Take over. You develop and implement Project Procurement strategies for specific projects as well as for a project pipeline and take full responsibility for main CAPEX, EPC and/ or BoP contracts during the development and construction phase and optimize our supply chain main measures throughout the entire project life cycle both from project and project portfolio perspective.In your capacity as Senior Procurement Manager – Australia you functionally report to the Director of Procurement Europe & Australia based in Europe and functionally to the CFO Australia.
Your future role:
- Strategic Procurement: Develop, implement and manage procurement strategies for main CAPEX and/or BoP contracts.
- Tender Management & Strategy Implementation Develop, drive, optimized and standardized tendering process for the project development, construction contracts and framework agreements
- Supplier & Stakeholder Management:
- Develop and implement an active supplier relationship management with the suppliers for PV, BESS & Onshore Wind and Balance of Plant contracts.
- Develop and implement an active stakeholder management with colleagues from the development, construction and service department.
- Supplier & Subcontractor Assessment: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants, including audits and complaints management, to ensure quality, compliance, and reliability.
- Contract Mastery: Negotiate and manage multiple contract packages under tight timelines, mitigating commercial and contractual risks and ensuring robust cost controls throughout project lifecycles.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and assess new, alternative, and innovative vendors, driving improvement in both project-specific and portfolio-wide procurement activities.
- Analytical Excellence: Provide accurate cost estimation for new renewable assets and grid interconnection works, preparing comprehensive decision templates and analysis for senior management (including risk mitigation and cost-benefit analysis).
Your profile:
- Industry Experience: Minimum 3 years in Australian renewables; 7+ years in procurement management and complex tenders (BOP, BESS, PV, Wind, power plant, industry, or infrastructure projects).
- Relationship Builder: Proven ability to quickly establish rapport with suppliers and cross-functional teams, maintaining strong partnerships internally and externally.
- Risk Management: Deep expertise in identifying, assessing, mitigating and preventing commercial and contractual risks across large-scale projects.
- Negotiation Skills: Track record in leading negotiations for diverse contract packages with multidisciplinary & cross functional teams under tight timelines
- Education: Degree in engineering or business (additional legal qualifications highly regarded).
- Cultural Awareness: Experience operating in multicultural environments; German language skills a plus.
- Mindset: Demonstrates a proactive, resilient, and team spirit approach.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills.
- Travel: Willingness to travel as required
