About the Role

As RWE continues to expand its renewable energy activities in Australia, RWE Renewables Europe & Australia is seeking a Head of Project Engineering Australia to support the regional growth across onshore wind, solar PV, BESS and hybrid projects.

The role is responsible for the engineering and technical delivery of projects across the full lifecycle, from development through construction to COD, ensuring optimized plant design, competitive technical solutions and implementation of LCOE-driven methodologies.

You will lead the regional project engineering team and provide technical support to Development, Grid, Procurement and Construction to ensure projects are delivered in line with technical, schedule and cost requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Project Engineering function in Australia, managing a multidisciplinary team covering civil, electrical, layout, resource, design management and BoP engineering.
• Provide mentoring, coaching and technical leadership to the engineering team.
• Deliver project engineering support across the full lifecycle, from early development through execution and commissioning.
• Ensure optimized plant design, energy yield performance and cost efficiency across wind, solar PV, BESS and hybrid projects.
• Oversee concept and execution engineering, ensuring compliance with project requirements, permits and applicable standards.
• Preparing Scope of Works and Technical Specifications for large complex procurement contracts
• Manage internal and external engineering resources, including steering engineering service providers and ensuring quality of deliverables.
• Support permitting, grid connection, procurement and construction with project-related engineering expertise.
• Contribute to technical due diligence, supplier evaluation, tendering and contracting processes.
• Support project execution by resolving technical issues and ensuring compliance with technical specifications.
• Collaborate with global engineering functions to ensure alignment with RWE standards and continuous improvement of technical solutions.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental requirements are incorporated in all design activities, iincluding providing coaching and guidance on Safety in Design.

Candidate Profile

• 10+ years of experience in project engineering. Must have experience within the renewable energy projects with recent experience in onshore wind high desirable.
• Experience working in late stage development, through to Final Investment Decision and into construction would be highly regarded. Experience with commissioning and Hold Point testing also high desirable
• Experience leading engineering teams or coordinating multidisciplinary technical workstreams.
• Strong understanding of project delivery across development, engineering and construction phases.
• Experience with plant design, energy yield, BoP engineering and technical package delivery.
• Experience working with external engineering consultants, suppliers and contractors, including demonstrated experience at managing external parties with sound contract management.
• Ability to work in an international and fast-growing project environment.
• Degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
