About the Role

As a Finance & Accounting business partner, you will play a key supporting role within our Australia finance team. Reporting into the local Finance Controller, you will be responsible for core accounting operations and financial reporting functions that support our growing commercial activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong early-to-mid-level professional to develop their finance skill-set in the dynamic energy trading sector

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records: journals, ledgers, reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Assist with preparation of financial statements (in line with relevant accounting standards) and internal management reports.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis to support business decisions.
• Support cash flow monitoring, working capital tracking and liaising with banking/treasury functions.
• Assist with compliance tasks including tax, audit preparation and regulatory reporting (with guidance from senior finance/tax resources).
• Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements and automation opportunities within finance operations.
• Undertake ad hoc finance & accounting projects as required in a growing, evolving organisation.

Job requirements and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 2-4 years’ relevant accounting/finance experience (preferably in commercial, finance function or energy/trading related environment).
• Sound knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other Office tools. Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Motivated, proactive and able to adapt to a fluid role in a growing business.
