About the Role
As Project Director you will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of the 1.1GW Theodore Wind Farm in central Queensland. This includes overseeing construction, commissioning, and handover to Operations. The role is accountable for delivering safety, environmental, schedule, cost, quality, and stakeholder outcomes aligned with RWE’s values and strategic goals.
You will also contribute to late-stage development, support Final Investment Decision (FID), and build and lead the Theodore Construction Team.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Lead a diverse, multidisciplinary project team with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, respect, and performance.
- Proactively manage risks, issues, and interfaces across internal teams and contractors.
- Engage with Traditional Owners and local communities respectfully and in line with cultural heritage protocols.
Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE)
- Champion HSSE and Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles.
- Ensure compliance with all HSSE legislation and internal standards.
- Address project-specific risks, including remote construction and environmental factors.
- Oversee emergency planning and site-specific safety procedures.
Project Management
- Lead all phases of project delivery, ensuring successful commissioning and high quality transition to Operations.
- Manage a $1B+ capex budget and construction schedule within approved tolerances.
- Implement robust project controls, reporting, and governance frameworks.
- Coordinate across disciplines (civil, electrical, procurement, commissioning) to ensure alignment.
- Oversee grid connection activities undertaken by Power Systems Manager.
Contract & Commercial Management
- Manage BoP, OEM, service provider, and consultant contracts.
- Lead contract negotiations, claims resolution, and variation management.
- Ensure compliance with legal, procurement, and that contractual obligations are met.
- Manage construction-related reporting and obligations tied to project approvals, land, grid, financing, and offtake agreements
Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent the project to internal and external stakeholders, including JV partners, regulators, financiers, and community groups.
- Maintain open, professional communication on progress, risks, and milestones.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and government agencies.
- Foster respectful industrial relations and timely resolution of workforce matters.
Job Requirements & Experience
- 10+ years in major infrastructure or renewable project delivery, including 5+ years in senior leadership.
- Proven success delivering complex projects in remote environments, preferably in renewables.
- Demonstrated ability to manage $1B+ budgets, schedules, and HSSE outcomes.
- Experience with Powerlink, NEM, and NSPs desirable.
- Strong commercial and contract management acumen.
- Knowledge of stakeholder, landowner, and planning aspects of wind development.
- Familiarity with Australian WHS and environmental legislation.
- Hands-on experience with wind farm construction (civil, turbine, grid).
- Understanding of First Nations engagement and land access processes.
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or related field; Project Management certification preferred.

- Willingness to travel and spend extended time on-site.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Valid Australian driver’s licence
