About the role:

 

RWE Renewables (RWER) Australia is developing offshore wind projects in Australia with the intention to create a multi-gigawatt portfolio.

The RWER Australia team is expanding and we are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Communications and Stakeholder Engagement professional to join the Australian offshore wind team as part of the larger RWE global organisation. The Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Manager role will be responsible for aligning day-to-day coordination of stakeholder engagement and communications with overall project development strategy across RWE’s offshore wind projects in Australia, and support other areas of the business as required including construction and operations.

 

The Australian offshore wind market is fast growing, and the development environment is also changing. With the introduction of RWE into the market, the individual appointed as the Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Manager will be tasked with the strategic planning and execution of stakeholder engagement for RWE's Australian offshore wind operations, focusing on diverse regional areas that include Victoria and New South Wales.

 

The ideal applicant possesses a background in cultivating interaction and dialogue with diverse stakeholder groups within the context of Australian infrastructure initiatives, specifically in relation to offshore wind and renewable energy projects. This experience should be complemented by knowledge of the integration of stakeholder engagement processes with various aspects of project progression. An enthusiasm for working within cross-cultural teams is essential.

 

RWER has a matrix organisational structure. This position line reports to the Country Manager Australia, and will report functionally to individual project leads and senior management team.

 

The responsibilities of the role include:

 

  • Work proactively across the development portfolio to identify opportunities for stakeholder brand awareness and enhancement.
  • Provide advice to management on new engagement initiatives to ensure stakeholder engagement and communication plans are considered in business planning activities.
  • Implement a program of internal stakeholder reporting within the development team to maintain a high level of engagement and awareness of stakeholder activities across the project portfolio.
  • Coordinate the procurement of stakeholder engagement-related contracts, including advisory services and event organization, and ensure the best value for money is achieved and RWE’s standards are maintained.
  • Manage the delivery of all stakeholder engagement-related contracts ensuring that RWE’s interests and needs are met and that a high standard of deliverables are provided.
  • Develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships across the organisation and work as part of cross functional teams as required.

The responsibilities of the role at the project level include:

 

  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies to support the development of the project portfolio and strategic plan.
  • Develop, implement and coordinate works programs to deliver engagement initiatives to support development activities and promote the RWE brand to build relationships and enhance growth opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a communications strategy to support the delivery of organisational and project strategy and messaging to key stakeholders.
  • Develop and guide strategy for all communications mediums and materials to consistently articulate key messages, strategy and mission to staff and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement a digital and social media strategy, ensuring communication mediums remain current and relevant to the targeted audiences.
  • Represent RWE to directly engage in discussions with all relevant stakeholders including land holders, first nation groups, government authorities, local communities, educational institutes, local businesses, and other stakeholders in support of development team’s need.
  • Coordinate and participate in community events for offshore wind projects, ensuring effective engagement with the community.
  • Lead and guide other team members to deliver engaging and high quality communication materials.
  • Prepare the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral.

 

HSE: Promote and maintain our high HSE standards and procedures for offshore wind. Share local insights and ensure that global best practices and learnings are implemented locally.

 

Governance & Administration: Assist in the creation of a highly-effective local offshore wind development, construction management (and at a later stage operations) organisation in accordance with RWE policies and procedures.

 

Your Profile:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Sciences or the equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in stakeholder engagement and communications of capital/infrastructure projects, and 2+ years demonstrated experience with stakeholder engagement and communications for renewable energy projects in Australia. Experience in offshore wind projects is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in stakeholder engagement on behalf of large infrastructure projects in Australian context.   Experience and knowledge in Victoria state and New South Wales state preferred.
  • Excellent organisation and project management skills including a proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, internal staff, sub-contractors and consultants.
  • Able to act comfortably in cross-cultural teams and collaborate across country boundaries with a sense of diversity and inclusion.
  • Skilled at modifying interactions to connect with a varied audience, ensuring clarity and simplicity when discussing complex issues.
  • Full proficiency in both spoken and written English is required.
