Site Operations Technician

Owing to internal progression, we have an exciting opportunity for a Site Operations Technician to join us at our Markinch CHP in Glenrothes, Fife!
Reporting directly to the Shift Operations Supervisor, the post holder will work as a member of a small shift team (at times alone), and will be responsible for flexibly operating the Biomass Power Station in line with site procedures, as well as maintaining compliance with statutory health, safety and environmental provisions. The Operations Technician will be involved with, and assist in improving the site systems and will contribute to areas of site maintenance, as directed.
About the role
- Maintain high health, safety, and environmental standards in all tasks.
- Operate the Power Station ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
- Perform routine plant duties and checks to maintain power station performance, availability, and reliability.
- Apply safe systems of work and take on the duties of Safety Controller when required.
- Diagnose, report, and rectify plant and control system faults as competence allows.
- Nominate gas consumption and electrical output on a shift basis following company procedures.
- Ensure safe and efficient generation, addressing operation outside prescribed limits and reporting safety impacts.
- Assist with maintenance activities, support outage preparation, and maintain professional communication with all stakeholders.
Job Requirements and Experience
- Competent in all aspects of power / process plant operation & / or maintenance.
- Appreciation of the commercial aspects of the power generation business.
- Carrying out the duties of Safety Controller under RWE Generation UK’s Safety Rules as nominated and authorised.
- Display good teamwork and interpersonal skills, working flexibly within a small team.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral; capable of engaging professionally with key RWE stakeholders such as commercial specialists.
- IT literate, displaying skills in numeracy and literacy.
Advantageous, not essential
- Operations / Engineering qualification ONC/HNC, or study towards an engineering or operations qualification
- Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legal requirements
- Power station operations and maintenance of power plant / codes of practice, technical procedures etc.

- An expected starting salary from approximately £43,000 to £51,000 depending on experience and up to 10% annual bonus
- Shift allowance of over £12,000 per annum
