Wind SCADA & Communications Engineer

Join the RWE renewables team as a Solar and Onshore Wind SCADA Engineer supporting projects in Spain and other countries of Europe and help us shape the future of renewable energy.

 

 Your future plans

 

  • Ensure the delivery of the HV/Substation and Generation Assets (WTG and PV) SCADA Systems of our Onshore Windfarms and Solar PV Plants during Development and Construction and the operation in their subsequent Operational phases
  • Define and develop Technical Specifications
  • Review designs made by Contractors and Suppliers
  • Design System Interfaces
  • Supervise Contractors Quality and Acceptance Tests and ensure that they are performed to specification and documented (FAT and SAT)
  • Supervise Supplier Commissioning Activities and review their results
  • Support our operations team on troubleshooting and maintaining the associated systems
  • Track associated systems life expectancy and coordinate the actions for their life extension (upgrades, refreshes, replacements)
  • Actively participate in and progress projects focusing on SCADA, targeting the optimisation of the Monitoring and Control capabilities and data availability
  • Be an active member of an international team in which knowledge, experience, successes and lessons learnt are continuously shared
  • Enable good working relationship and knowledge exchange with other teams within the renewables business

 

Your profile

 

  • University Degree or equivalent in a relevant technical or engineering discipline
  • Experience in HV/Substation, WTG and/or Solar PV SCADA Systems and their infrastructure
  • Experience in control systems, automation, SCADA, PLC's, RTU's and IED's
  • Experience in Industrial Communication Protocols (especially OPC-family, Modbus, IEC-104 and MMS) and their network specific behaviours
  • Knowledge in SQL-Server Query, experience in SQL-Server Administration is a plus
  • Ability to carry on risk analysis and implement mitigation plans
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments as needed and plan them dependant on project priority
  • Experience or Knowledge in Cyber Security requirements for Critical Infrastructures is a plus
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Spanish. German, French and Italian are a plus
