Position Summary:

The role is focused on development of Wind, PV and BESS projects in Spain from early stage through the investment decision and handover to the construction & operations team following RWE Renewable Group standards and project management guidelines.   

Support in the selection and acquisition of green/brown field, authorized projects or operating assets and coordinates activities inside the team and of consultants, included due-diligence for acquisition of authorized projects or operating assets; The position will be part of the team of Business Development Spain, reporting to the Country Head of Business Development

 

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver assigned projects (development process until FiD of new wind farms or repowering/reconstruction of existing wind farms, PV plants or BESS) according to agreed timeline, budget and quality, providing timely and transparent communication to all function involved (Technical Engineering, Asset Management & Operation, Valuation &Risk Controlling, Legal, HSE, etc.) by setting and updating Gantt charts, with accurate description of tasks, responsibilities and costs according to internal processes;
  • Manage the permitting process including the preparation and/or review of the documentation for EIA (Evaluación de Impacto Ambiental) and Permits, the relationships with all the involved authorities and bodies, the representation of the interests of RWE with the different authorities;
  • Build and cultivate relationships with owners of land parcels effected by the assigned projects in order to establish and maintain a positive link with the local communities in the interest of the project success;
  • Improve project competitiveness, challenging the project assumptions in order to reduce LCoE and/or improve LRoE, in constant cooperation with Investment Manager; 
  • Manage directly and/or by coordinating external consultants all the activities related to the assigned project, including site pre-selection and environmental constraints analysis, wind potential assessment, layout definition and optimization, land leases agreements, environmental impact assessment approval, building permit achievement

 

Requirements:

  • Significant work experience (3-5 years+) in solar and/or wind development in Spain
  • Demonstrate performance orientation, self-motivation to drive the business, increase performance and deliver results
  • Proven knowledge of the Spanish Renewables market, demonstrate competence in scouting and consenting process in Spain as well as proven network
  • Able to demonstrate commercial awareness and understanding of key commercial drivers to the energy sector
  • Ability to lead, develop, inspire, manage and delegate effectively across geographies
  • Ability to collaborate globally in cross functional teams and to effectively communicate internally & externally
  • Self-reflective personality, able to learn and act on feedback
  • Show strategic thinking capabilities, push the boundaries to grow the business
  • Show continuous improvement attitude by constantly optimizing the business
  • Valid driving license
  • Degree in engineering, business administration, economics, law or comparable studies
  • Strong track record of utility-scale solar and/or onshore wind project development
  • Very good communication skills and high level assertiveness and communication skills in an international environment and the ability to build effective relationship at all levels
  • Appreciation for cultural differences
  • Willingness to travel
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
