Senior Grid Connection Engineer

The Senior Grid Connection Engineer manages all aspects related to the connection of wind farms, photovoltaic plants and storage facilities to the Distribution and Transmission Grids. He/she also provides technical support to the Origination, Development, Construction and Operation Project Managers on issues related to grids.

Main tasks:

• Support the Spanish Development department in:
  • Origination activities such as studying monthly electricity network operators’ capacity reports or finding available capacity in the grid
  • Maintenance of the internal tools and adjustment if needed to follow new criteria from Operations.
  • Submitting access and connection permits requests and/or reviews
  • Support using corresponding platforms.
• Technical review of initial electricity network operators’ connection agreements (CTE) for projects in early development. 
• Manage the process of signing the grid connection works agreements (Convenio de Conexión) of the projects with electricity network operators in late development.
• Lead, manage and complete the commissioning procedure of the projects in construction phase by obtaining:
  • The necessary operational notifications (EON, ION and APESp) to reach the COD of the plant. 
  • The Final Operational Notification (FON) to formally complete the administrative commissioning of the plant.
  • Transfer (Cesión), Compensation (Resarcimiento) and Transitional (Transitorio) Contracts with electricity network operators, if applicable. 
• Manage the main electricity network operators’ platforms.
• Consult and commissioning.
• Maintain ongoing contact with the electricity network operators (in particular i-DE, e-distribución, UFD, EDP and REE). 
• Represent RWE Renewables Iberia on various connection-related working groups in different national associations (UNEF, APPA and AEE) and EEN-S in internal working groups (i.e. Grid Jour Fix or equivalent).
• General technical support for the Origination, Development, Construction. Operations Project Managers.
• Ad hoc support to the EEN-S and Global Electrical communities given availability.
• Support the resourcing/hiring, onboarding and training of new Grid Connection Engineers in EEN-S per approved MTP. 

Skills:

• Engineering degree or Master's degree with a specialization in electrical engineering.
• Experience: > 5 years with a network operator and/or in the field of HVB installations (installers, producers, suppliers, etc.).
• Regular communication and follow-up with project managers and functional managers. 
• Experience/expertise in LV/HV/HV electrical installations
• Flexible, easy to integrate, organized, practical.
• Fluent Spanish and English required.
• Regular travel in Spain.
• International mobility and B driving license.
