We are seeking a talented and experienced Commercial & Performance Engineer to join our dynamic team and help drive the performance and profitability of our RWE Gas Power Plants portfolio, focused on the Benelux Cluster. In this role, you will conduct, monitor and report on the technical and commercial performance of the power stations, proactively identify and implement improvements, and provide valuable insights to support the development of individual asset and portfolio strategies.
About the role
• Leverage commercial and technical expertise to drive performance improvements and enhance profitability.
• Analyse plant performance data to identify areas for improvement, efficiency gains, and optimization opportunities.
• Apply plant modelling tools to supervise and optimize plant performance, ensuring smooth operations.
• Develop relevant KPIs, reports, support regular performance dialogues and drive the EKD process within Gas Power Plants.
• Organize and manage environmental emissions testing, report findings, and collaborate with the Environmental Assurance Officer and laboratories.
• Act as the owner/key user of local process and performance monitoring systems, proactively identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
• Identify opportunities for performance enhancement, assess proposals from O&M, support investment proposals, and perform Root Cause Analysis for performance-related issues.
• Align activities with RWEST for optimal commercial integration, communicate technical parameters for optimizing plant dispatch, and support the local O&M organization with training, instructions, and daily support.
Your Profile
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Chemical/Process Technology, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in a complex, performance-driven technical environment, preferably in gas power generation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to extract insights from complex datasets and optimize processes.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and knowledge of modern techniques such as statistical process control (SPC), databases, PowerBI and others are a considered a plus.
• Solid understanding of power plant operations, with specific experience in gas power generation and performance optimization.
• Excellent commercial awareness, with the ability to develop and assess business cases and make data-driven decisions.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with stakeholders across technical and commercial departments, ensuring alignment.
• Fluent in English, with proficiency in Dutch and/or German preferred. Self-motivated, strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and willingness to occasionally travel to portfolio assets and corporate offices.
