As part of the wider central engineering function, our Civil and Structural Team supports the global offshore wind business within RWE Offshore at all stages of the project life cycle. Your key tasks and responsibilities:

As a Technical Design Manager Foundations your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Thrive as part of a multi-disciplinary team of technical specialists supporting all stages of the offshore wind farms within the RWE Renewables’ portfolio
  • Lead and supervise Engineers internally and externally to deliver  structural engineering activities during the pre-FEED, FEED phase
  • Lead the design and development of our in-house foundation design modelling tools to ensure bid success and a cutting edge design process
  • Lead engagement with supply chain for enabling innovation in foundation design
  • Support cost engineering activities connected to foundation design during the development phase of our projects
  • Thrive to implement optimisation and novel technologies to drive down LCoE and continuously improve on HSE performance
  • Lead the design of new and industry-leading foundation structures for offshore wind turbines, during the origination and development phases of a project
  • Deliver specialist engineering knowledge to review and assess the performance of our existing wind turbine foundation structures
  • Mentor and develop the foundation engineers and senior foundation engineers, technical design managers within the team and across the wider business
  • Drive integration with the Site Characterisation team and the Logistics teams to optimize designs for soil condition, weather conditions and installation.
  • Ensure that all relevant lessons learned from our operating fleet are incorporated into future projects
  • Provide technical support to Procurement, Quality and HSSE departments
  • Represent RWE as a technical expert on ground breaking joint industry and research projects externally and with the internal Technical Innovation team
  • Work closely across all interfaces with; internal stakeholders, external design houses, certification authorities, and fabrication contractors to produce cost effective and value-adding solutions

 

Essential skill requirements:

  • Educated to degree level in civil or structural engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience in offshore structural engineering – preferably with both: monopiles and jacket fixed foundations, and/or floating foundation concepts
  • Proven experience supporting renewable construction projects
  • Project management experience in the offshore industry from either design, construction, or operations
  • Good data handling and data analysis capability
  • Good software programming skills for design modelling
  • Very good knowledge of structural design tools such as Sesam
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally
  • Good communicator and excellent team player
  • Fluent spoken and written English

 

Desirable skills:

  • Member of a professional engineering body
  • The drive and motivation to meet time, cost and quality targets
  • Demonstrable experience of working effectively in an international business
  • Experience in floating offshore wind projects

 

Location: UK Hybrid with offices in London, Swindon or Coventry
