As part of the wider central engineering function, our Civil and Structural Team supports a truly GLOBAL Offshore Wind Business within RWE Offshore at all stages of the project life cycle. Your key tasks and responsibilities:

As a Senior Offshore Structural Engineer – O&M Specialist your primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Thrive as part of a multi-disciplinary team of technical specialists supporting all stages of the offshore wind farms within the RWE Renewables’ portfolio
  • Deliver specialist engineering knowledge to review and assess the performance of our existing wind turbine foundation structures
  • Have strong understanding of Structural Health Monitoring and data processing for structural performance evaluation and health monitoring
  • Support Offshore Operations in driving the implementation of our fleet-wide asset integrity strategy for Offshore foundations
  • Gather lessons learned from operational fleet and feed into the design of new and novel foundation structures for offshore wind turbines, during the origination and development phases of an offshore wind farm project
  • Contribute to design and development of our in-house foundation Structural Health Monitoring and design modelling tools
  • Manage the structural engineering activities and third party design contract during the pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design stages of an offshore wind project, and then continue supporting the project on into fabrication and construction
  • Mentor and develop the junior and associate colleagues within the team and across the wider business;
  • Ensure that all lessons learned from our operating fleet are incorporated into future projects
  • Provide technical support to Procurement, Quality and HSSE departments
  • Represent RWE as a technical expert on ground breaking Joint Industry and Research Projects
  • Work closely across all interfaces with; internal stakeholders, external design houses, certification authorities, and fabrication contractors to produce cost effective and value-added solutions


Essential skill requirements:

  • Educated to degree level in civil or structural engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience in offshore structural engineering and Operations and Maintenance – preferably with both: monopiles and jacket fixed foundations, and/or floating foundation concepts
  • Project management experience in the offshore industry from either design, construction, or operations
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally
  • Good communicator and excellent team player
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • The drive and motivation to meet time, cost and quality targets


Desirable skills:

  • Member of a professional engineering body
  • Experience with SESAM software
  • Proven experience supporting renewable operations and / or construction projects
  • Demonstrable experience of working effectively in an international business
