We are seeking a Hydrographic Surveyor to join our Geophysics & Metocean team within RWE Renewables. In this role, you will contribute to a global portfolio of offshore wind projects, working across all stages from early site development through to construction, operations, and maintenance.

You will be part of a collaborative and internationally distributed team, with opportunities to work across projects, share knowledge, and continue to develop your technical and professional skills.

 

About the role

As part of a group of hydrographic specialists, you will:

  • Contribute to the delivery of offshore and onshore hydrographic, topographic, and positioning data for renewable energy projects
  • Support development and continuous improvement of onshore and offshore hydrographic survey design and specification, and assist with technical tender assessment
  • Coordinate the collation and review of survey data, to ensure our surveys deliver consistent, high-quality and accurate outputs
  • Work closely with the Senior Surveyors to align with current best-practice, share knowledge with the team, provide clear technical advice for informed decision making, and ensuring that appropriate standards are followed
  • Bring experience in aspects such as UXO and geohazards identification and mitigation, mapping of seabed and subsurface features, and hydrographic and topographical data management
  • Have willingness to travel within the UK and internationally as required, as well as providing some occasional technical support outside standard working hours as part of a wider survey team

 

Role requirements and experience

We welcome applications from candidates with a range of backgrounds and experience levels. As an RWE Hydrographic Surveyor you will ideally bring the following skills and experiences:

  • MSc in (or equivalent degree or suitable experience in) hydrographic survey, or in a relevant geospatial discipline
  • Experience of or practical exposure to shallow water hydrographic surveys
  • Experience working with large and varied hydrographic datasets (e.g. gridded and ungridded MBES, CARIS projects, and surface and subsea navigation data), including quality control and review
  • Experience reviewing technical reports and managing large technical datasets
  • Familiarity with current and emerging hydrographic and nearshore survey techniques, and industry specialist software (e.g. ArcGIS, CARIS, Qinsy/Qimera, EIVA etc.)
  • Commitment to and good knowledge of current UK health, safety and environmental legislation, sound operational understanding of industry technical codes and UK regulatory requirements for offshore wind surveys
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams with clear communication skills
